Ripping the Bandaid Off

Trisha and I had made it to the dining room and she had led me to a table. She told me to sit to the right of the head chair. I had just sat down when a woman came up to me. She looked furious. She had her blond hair in a bun and she was wearing a dress that was much too small for her. Her shoes were too small for her feet but she seemed to be coming towards me quite fast.

"Who do you think you are sitting next to Alex's chair? You have no right at this table. This is the Alpha's table. Only the Alpha's Luna should be sitting in this seat and that is not you!" Her face was looking down at me and her hands were lodged on her hips.

"She is a guest of Alex's. She was asked to sit here, Tiana. You have no business being here." Trisha tried to intervene but this woman was not taking her eyes off of me.

"I have business with Alex. This 'human' has no business at his table. She needs to leave. Why would Alex even want to be in the company of a 'human'"? The word came out of her mouth and it was said with distaste. She was human, wasn't she?

"I do not understand why you keep calling me a human with such anger. I was asked to be here for dinner by Alex. I do not know this 'Alpha' you are talking about. I only know that you should get some better fitting clothes." I could see that her rather large breasts were about to fall out of her dress. Her face became a deep shade of red and she pulled her hand back to slap me.

I have learned this movement from the many times foster parents have done this. I closed my eyes and braced myself for the pain. But it never came. I kept my eyes closed even when I heard Alex's very angry voice. He was actually speaking and growling at the same time. His voice was much deeper than when he had talked to me earlier.

When I opened my eyes, Riley was standing in front of Alex and the woman that Trisha had called Tiana was on the floor coughing and choking. She had her hand to her throat and tears running down her face.

I looked into Alex's eyes and they were looking back at me with affection. Why was he looking at me like that? What had happened while I had my eyes closed? The biggest question was what is an Alpha and a Luna? What had she been talking about?

"Riley picked her up and take her to the cells. Maybe a night in there will teach her where her place is." Alex never took his eyes off of me as he instructed Riley.

I looked at Tiana and her face was the picture of amazement. If you looked up the word in the dictionary her picture would be there.She looked at Alex and started to get off the floor. Her dress had ripped open and her breasts were showing more now than before.

"The cells? No, Alex, you can't. I was just protecting you from her." She screeched. Fighting against Riley who was trying to grab her arm.

"Protect me? Why would you think I need protection from her? I need protection from you !" His anger had not died down, it seemed.

"I wanted to show you a plan I have for making housekeeping more efficient. I want to show you I am the only choice for your Luna. "she reached for the notebook I hadn't even seen she was carrying.

Steven walked up and picked up the notebook. He looked at the front cover and it had writing on it. He showed it to Alex, who took it out of Stevens' hands.

"Property of Angelina Morse. Why do you have Angelina's notebook?" Alex turned the notebook around, showing her the cover.

"I borrowed it to write down my ideas." she looked at the floor. Her voice was a lot quieter.

"Where did you get those clothes? They aren't yours. You were in a different dress when I saw you earlier. Where did you get these clothes from? They don't fit you so they can't be yours."Alex was in her face asking her questions and I could feel his anger rolling off of him.

"I borrowed them from a room upstairs across from the elevator." Her voice was just above a squeak.

That is the room I am staying in. She had taken clothes from my closet. No wonder they didn't even fit her. I was much smaller in frame than she was. I know that I have only been here one day and these clothes were just given to me but I felt violated. She had been in my room. This was the first room that was ever just mine. Even if it was only temporary. Suddenly I was mad.

"You were in my room? In my closet? You felt the need to take it from me? You don't even know me? What have I done to you?" my anger was probably not justified as the room wasn't really mine. The clothes were actually Alex's until I paid him back for them and I had no idea how I was going to do that. I had planned on talking to him tonight at dinner about working all of this off.

"You have no right to even talk to me, you intruder. You are nothing more than a human from outside our pack. What gives you the right to talk to me like that?" she brought herself up to her full height. She was about two inches taller than me.

"She has every right as she is my true mate. She will be Luna of this pack if she accepts me." Alex looked at me with what was close to fear in his eyes. Gasps could be heard all around us. What was he talking about? Here were those words again. Luna, pack, my being his Luna? Was he asking me to marry him? Was that what was going on? There was too much!! My vision began to blur and things started to go black. I could hear voices but they seemed so far away. Suddenly there was nothing but darkness.
