From Bad to Worse

"Zephra" I bent to catch her as she fainted. This had all been too much for her. Why did Tiana have to pull this right now? I needed more time. Now I have blurted everything out right in front of Zephra. Well, there was no doubt now we were going to have this talk immediately.

"Look at how weak she is! She just faints at the drop of a hat. She is not strong enough to be your Luna. I am the right choice." Tiana's grating voice was like a cold bucket of water.

"Steven take Tiana to the cells. I will deal with her later." I wasn't even looking in their direction. My eyes were locked on the limp body of my mate. I picked her up bridal style and carried her to the elevators. I needed to get her out of here. I could still hear Tiana yelling but I wasn't paying attention to what she was saying.

I got into the elevator and took Zephra to her room. I laid her on her bed and brushed her hair off of her face. She was gorgeous. I ran my hand down her cheek and my thumb brushed her lips. They were so soft. All I wanted to do was kiss her.

"Mark her now so everyone knows she is our mate." Artus was pacing in my head.

"We can't just mark her. She just got information that she is our mate. That she is our Luna. She doesn't know what any of that is. She would never understand my biting her on the neck while she is passed out." Artus can be such a pain sometimes.

There was a knock on the door and Trisha came in with the doctor behind her. He came over and took her pulse and listened to her heart. He felt her forehead for fever. I was so afraid he would say there was something wrong with her. I had just found my mate and here she was for the second time unconscious.

"It seems it was just an overload of her brain as she is not very strong right now. She is so malnourished. She has not been kept healthy for a very long time. She may have some side effects to her poor condition. When she comes around, you need to bring her to the hospital so I can run some tests." The doctor had a concerned look on his face which did nothing to put my mind at ease.

"When she wakes up she is going to be asking questions about what was said tonight. Should I tell her or will it be too much for her?" I needed to know just how much I should tell her in order not to hurt her. I don't need her fainting every time she gets too much information.

"This is difficult. She has a concussion due to a head injury, plus she is malnourished, frightened, and we have no idea what type of things she has been through. You need to take it slow with her.

"I understand doctor. Thank you." He walked back to the door he had come in and turned to me. "There is something very special about her. I can feel a type of power coming from her." He finished and shook his head as he walked out.

"Alpha, I am so sorry. I tried to get Tiana to leave but she just wasn't having any part of it. She wanted to sit next to you and she was totally upset about Zephra being in that chair. She lashed out at Zephra but she didn't even move or try to protect herself. She was just going to take the slap like it was a normal thing." Trisha's voice was the sound of amazement. Wolves don't just sit and let people hit them. We fought back. I remember the closed eyes of Zephra as I had turned to her. Like she was not sure why the pain had not come. But Zephra does not know she is a wolf and is powerful.

"I know Trisha and I thank you for trying to handle the situation. But it had to come out sooner or later. I just wish not so many of the pack had been there. The rumors are going to be flying." I had sat back down on the side of the bed and was holding her hand. The little sparks were coursing through me. This is my mate and no matter what the rest of the pack said, she was their Luna. They will treat her with respect. If she accepts me after she hears the whole story. What is the story? What am I going to tell her? We have found nothing to help me. But it was only one day.

As if on cue, Steven and Riley came through the door. They both looked worried. Steven had scratches all over his face and hands. I guess Tiana put up more of a fight than she should have. I will deal with her later. I will call her father and mother and tell them to come get her. She will be banned from this pack. I was being nice to let her stay there with her aunt but this was not acceptable.

"Can you contact the Beta of the Silver Moon pack? Have him bring his mate and they can pick up their daughter. I need to let them know how serious this is." Turning to Riley, I looked him in the eyes. I could see the worry in his face. This type of thing could cause tension between our allies and our pack. But this had to be dealt with.

"Yes Alpha." He walked out of the room. I heard Steven shifting from foot to foot. This was his nervous action he did. He always shifted from one foot to the other when he knew that something was about to happen.

"Is there something you wish to say Steven?" I was staring back at Zephra. Her hand was warm and I was rubbing small circles on the back of it. Just as I felt her start to grip my fingers with hers, Steven spoke.

"Tiana said she was going to tell her parents that you had taken her virginity and promised to make her Luna just to get her to sleep with you." Zephras eyes opened just as Steven finished his statement. Great, now she is going to think I am a cad who only sleeps with girls for their virtue. She pulled her hand out of mine and looked at me with fear and betrayal. What else could go wrong???
