She's a what???

(Alexander) I could feel Riley's eyes on me but I kept looking at the floor. I couldn't meet his gaze. I knew he wanted to ask questions and I had no answer for them. How was I going to tell him that Zephra was my mate? I had known when I had walked into the room. Her eyes looked at me and I couldn't deny the feeling that made me just want to run over to her and kiss those beautiful lips. Artus was going crazy in my head. He wanted to mark her right then. How could this be? I was an Alpha. How could I take a human as my mate? My Luna had to be able to help protect the pack and fight for them. A human couldn't help with that. "Well, I know you have something to say." I never took my eyes off the floor. "What is up with you and this girl? His voice was barely a whisper. If I didn't have wolf hearing, I doubt I would have even heard it. He was afraid of what my reaction was going to be after the strange way I had been acting, I was sure. "She's my mate." "Shes what?" he stood up and looked down at me. I looked up from the floor into his face, which was slowly turning the color of a ripe tomato. I knew his reaction was going to be the typical reaction from the rest of the pack. My ranked members were never going to accept her. Which meant that the rest of the pack probably wouldn't either. "How can this be? She is a human man. She isn't even a supernatural being. I mean even a witch would be better." He ran his hands through his hair and started pacing the floor. "I know" was all I could seem to get out. He was right. What was I going to do? If I rejected her, there was a good chance I wouldn't get a second mate. The Moon Goddess put mates together for a reason and was not happy when we tried to go against her reasoning. What reasoning was there for this? This was not what I had ever thought would happen when I dreamed about meeting my mate. I thought it would be fabulous. My mate and I would not ever be able to be apart and have a wonderful life as the Alpha and Luna of a powerful pack. Now what? Steven walked into the room and he could feel the tension. He stopped after he closed the door. He looked between Riley and I, wondering what was happening. He went over and sat on the edge of the bed. He was unsure whether to say anything or just sit there quiet. "So what is happening?" He couldn't handle it anymore. Both of us looked at him. He had a pinched look on his face like he really wasn't sure if he wanted to hear about the problem. "Go on...tell him." Riley looked at me with a look that was close to fear. "Zephra is my mate." The look in Steven's eyes was almost funny. His eyes got big and his mouth fell open like a fish. The wheels were running fast in his head. Trying hard to find something to say, he closed his mouth and stood up. "Well, it could be worse." My eyes were on him as I knew he was the joker of the bunch and was about to say something that I was hoping wouldn't make me want to kill him. "How could it be worse?" Riley turned towards him, throwing his hands up in the air. "He could be mated to a dragon." the thought of that made me smile. That could be worse. But at least a dragon would understand about the magical world. Riley looked at me smiling and looked at Steven standing there with a smile on his face. Riley growled and turned his back to both of us. He was definitely not handling this well. What did I expect? He was giving the same reaction I should have been giving but I was actually enjoying the feeling of having a mate. The doctor came into the room looking at the clip board in his hands. He seemed to be oblivious to the feeling in the room. He was intent on what he was looking at. "Alp.. Alexander." he corrected himself before he looked up. "Yes doctor." my voice sounded a little tired even to me. "The blood tests have come back and there is something strange in them." His face looked very confused as he looked at each of us. He seemed to finally feel the tension in the room and had stopped in his tracks right where he was. He looked at me and I stood up and went towards him. "What is it, doctor?" I have known this man all my life. I had never seen him look like this. He had been the pack doctor for my whole life. He definitely knew everything about every pack member. He was looking a bit confused when he looked back at his clipboard. "The tests show that the girl is a wolf. She seems to have some strange markers in her blood though. They seem to show some qualities. I am not sure what they mean." "A wolf? How can that be? I can't smell anything but humans on her." Riley was the first to snap out of the shock and start questioning the results. That was true. I hadn't smelled anything but a slight scent of rouge wolf. Then there was the wonderful smell of violets and caramel. That wonderful mixture made my heart race. I can smell it even now. "If she was raised with humans, her scent would be diffused. She would never have been able to get a strong scent of wolf. It would have been kept away by the human scents she was around." His explanation took me out of my thoughts of my mate's scent. A wolf. Well, that was better. But having been raised by humans, would she reject the life of a wolf? Would she reject me? She wouldn't even know about the mate bond. She was ony seventeen. She wouldn't get her wolf till she was eighteen. She wasn't even sure how old she was. How could a wolf pup have been raised in the human world? What wolf would have left their pup at a hospital in the human world? "Like I said, there are some strange markers in her blood. I am going to send a sample to the werewolf council. They have an extensive lab and library of different anomalies that can show up in wolf blood." He was looking at me for approval. "Yes, that is a good idea. How fast can they analyze the blood?" We needed to know what else was mixed in there before I got too excited about her being a wolf. "Shouldn't be too long. Maybe two days." He turned to walk out of the room. When he got to the door, he stopped. "What kind of wolf would let his pup be raised in the human world?" He shook his head as he walked out the door. He was voicing my thoughts.
