The Work Begins

(Alexander) We walked down the hall to my office. I could feel Riley staring at the back of my head. Was he ever going to give me an ear full about my slip with the omega comment. I knew I had messed up as soon as she gave me the questioning look. I had just been staring at her, looking at every fascinating detail of her beauty. My mind was mush around her. She made my whole world spin. I wanted to stay with her, but I knew I had lots of things to take care of. As I opened the door, Riley's voice was right there, letting me know I had made a mistake. "Really, Alex?" he started with his hand running through his hair. I walked to my desk and sat down in my chair, pulling out paperwork that I needed to work on. I opened a file and pulled out some pages. "Alex? Aren't you going to say anything? I mean really!! That could have been a problem." Riley continued without me even looking at him. "Could you back off the guy? He not only finds out he has a mate but that she has been raised human. He is the Alpha of the pack and has a great deal on his mind, and he now has to have a very tough conversation with the woman that is meant to be our Luna." Steven stepped to the side of the desk, looking Riley straight in the eyes. I was glad at least one of them understood my tough predicament. Riley sat in the chair in front of my desk. He looked upset but had seemed to calm down. His brown wavy hair was a mess from him running his hands through it all morning. His green eyes looked worried. He was a great beta and always had the pack's best interest at heart, but he could get a little high strung if things were out of place or not going to plan. He is a quick thinker, but not when thrown a curveball like this. "Ok. Sorry. I know you have a lot going on, but we really need a plan of action here. She is staying here for how long?" his voice was more controlled. He didn't seem to understand. She is my mate. I want her to stay with me forever. I had to find a way to help her understand everything and make things work for us. "Here is what I have. She says she was left at a hospital in the human world. I need you to get the records of that. See if there is any security tape of her being left, and maybe we can see who left her. Steven, I want you to look into the car accident and fire she said happened. I want to know all the circumstances of those things that have happened to her. We also need to see if we have any surveillance video of the rogues that were chasing her. I want to know who they are, and maybe we can track who sent them after her." Looking at both of them, they were now on better footing, being given something to do. "Got it, boss." Steven bowed his head to me, and both him and Riley left. Now I can breathe. They were great at their jobs and wonderful friends, but cheese and crackers, they could drive me nuts. ____________________________ (Gaja) Those i***t mongrels had screwed up. They chased her into the woods and had lost her. How could they lose her? Weren't they supposed to be able to smell trails and scents and stuff? For lizard's sake, they are dogs, after all. The rogue that had come to tell me that they lost her was the last one alive from this doomed expedition. He said the others had gone into the woods after her when she ran. He stayed by the car in case she got away and doubled back. When they didn't come back, he had gone looking for them. He only found a place that looked like there had been a fight with lots of blood but no bodies. In my anger, I had snapped his neck. He was still lying on the floor with a surprised look on his face. "Gemini..." I shouted. A muscular man came in and looked at me, then the body. He didn't seem surprised. He just stood there waiting for instructions. I swear these men were worthless. "Would you take him out and dispose of the body? Then come back and see me. I have things for you to do." "Yes, your excellence." they all called me that, but I think it was more of an insult than a true title. He went about picking up the body and carrying it out while I went to my map on the table. I picked up the gold sheen obsidian crystal on the leather tether and scried for Abigail. That was the name she was given at birth, but I had to think of her by her new name. Zephra. The crystal swung back and forth. As it caught the light, the golden black rays were cast on the ceiling. Finally, it stopped and fell into the forest. Great, that was the last place they had seen her. There would be no way she would still be out there. She did not know her abilities yet. She was not able to kill off 6 rogue wolves and stay alive. How was she being hidden from me? I grabbed the glass of the potion I had been drinking and threw it at the wall. It crashed into a million pieces. How was this girl able to thwart my attempts to kill her since she was a baby? First, my lover takes her into the forest to kill her, and he ends up leaving her in the human world. Then she gets adopted, and she lives through the car accident I had set up. Then she gets away with three other foster children when I set her house a flame. Now she has gotten away from the rogues I sent to kill her and is still out in the world. I need her to pay for what her father and mother did to me. I had cast a spell on her father, a very handsome and strong Alpha, to fall in love with me. It was all working until his true mate came into the picture. She was a special wolf. She had special powers to be able to repel my magic and showed him who I truly was. Bradley had ordered me dead, and Santana, his mate, had been in total agreement. They put me in the dungeon, and I told them they would pay with the life of their firstborn for this travesty. I had some powder for teleportation and used it to get away. On the night of their child's birth, I had put a spell on the midwife to kill the child when it was born. Bradley was watching and was able to save his daughter. The midwife was questioned but had no recollection of the event. Later, when she was three months old, I bewitched a poisonous snake to crawl into her nursery and strike her. Santana came in and stopped it by taking a sword and cutting off the head of the snake. They had decided to send the child away for a while to live as an omegas' child in another pack until they could find me. Now they do not even know that their precious daughter is alive, and I want to make sure she doesn't stay that way. There was a knock on the door. It was Gemini. "I need you to service me. Now. " I need a distraction. Hopefully, he will do. No one had been as good as Lorenzo. I did miss him. "Yes, your excellence." He walked to the bed and waited for me. His hands were all over me and making me purr. This is just what I needed.
