Hardin Sitting in the familiar comfort of my mom’s living room, I couldn’t help but think about how things used to be. She’s always been like this—patient, calm, and strangely content. What I don’t get is why she left my dad, all the power, all the privilege, for someone like Les. A guy who can’t even hold it together most of the time. It baffled me. But then again, mom’s always been about finding her own happiness, no matter how weird it looked from the outside.
