For a moment, we just sat there, our lips on each other’s, waiting for who would pull away first.
I was left torn between wanting to continue what had just started and second-guessing everything. I didn’t move and either did Hardin. There was this unspoken question between us like we both knew something had shifted, but neither of us was brave enough to admit it.
We pulled away slowly, looking at each other like we wanted to make another go at it, but slowly realizing what we were doing. I could see the awkwardness settling in on his face, though I wasn’t sure why I didn’t feel as awkward as I thought I would.
