Chapter 1

913 Words
The tall, almost castle-like school stood in front of me with BAYSIDE in huge maroon colors with white outlining the maroon. I grip my backpack arms with my paper with all my classes in my left hand. Feeling my hands begin to sweat, I quickly removed my hands and started to wipe them on my sky blue high waisted jeans. I grew the courage to take the first couple of steps, feeling the butterflies in my stomach grow stronger. I stepped back down, having a mini panic attack. “You can do this, Y/N,” I say underneath my breath. One second passes, as I mentally prep myself to go into the school. My hands fidget as I take baby steps towards the school. I pull open the door, walking inside.  Everyone stops talking to each other as I look at them back. Is it my face? Or my clothes?Or My hair? Or everything about me?!” They all point and start dying laughing at me.  That scenario kept on playing in my head as I made my way over to my locker. “221, 222, 223. There it is.” I say under my breath. I open the locker, placing my books for the semester inside. I close my locker and place the lock on it as I overhear, “Hey Preppy.” A tall tan boy says, walking to the caucasian blond boy in the hallway. I leaned on my locker. “What do you have planned today?” The tanned boy says, putting his hand on the blond boy’s shoulder. “Nothin’ just planned on sleeping in Mr.Horvitz’s class.” He says back, making his way to me.  Out of nowhere, a short caucasian female with a cheerleading outfit came up behind the blond boy. “Hey Zack, got anything planned?” She says. “Why does everyone think that I always have something planned?” He looked confused. “Cause you do.” A dark-skinned female with a huge fashion statement marked on her says, coming from a few lockers down. “No, he doesn't!” A boy with curly hair and a large nose says coming out of my locker next to me. I jumped in response, knocking me out of my daze of staring at them, especially the blond hair boy - Zack was his name? “Well I got to go, Mr. Danit is going to be on my case if I’m late. See you at The Max afterschool.” The short caucasian girl says, saying goodbye. I looked at my digital watch, seeing that class will start in a hot minute as I rush to room 331. "Ring Ring.” The bell says as I close the door behind me, taking a deep breath. “Hello, Ms-? A person with a strong commanding voice says. My eyes skim over the class, realizing all eyes were on me. I take a big gulp, striking the courage to walk forward towards the class. “Beckett,” I say, feeling my palms become sweaty. “Yes, Ms. Beckett. You’re the new student.” The teacher says holding out his hand. “I’m Mr.Horvitz.” I took his hand and shook it gently. He smiled. “Why not introduce yourself?” He says, pointing to my middle of the front of the classroom. I walk slowly towards the middle. “Hi, I’m Y/N,” I said quietly, pushing up my frames. “Tell us what you like, what you’re interested in,” Mr.Horvitz says leading me. “I like-” I say before getting interrupted by the door squeaking open. Everyone’s attention turned to the door, including mine. It was the blond boy from this morning! “Hey, Mr.Horvitz! Sorry, I’m late, my dog had explosive diarrhea this morning.” The blond boy says, smiling. “Save the excuses, Zack, go sit down. Y/N, honey, you could sit next to that troublemaker right there.” Mr. Horvitz says pointing to the empty seat next to Zack. I nod my head, sitting next to Zack. “Who are you, are you new?” Zack whispers to me as Mr.Horvitz started his lesson. I nod my head yes, as I take out my books and a piece of loose-leaf paper. “Hey, do you have a pen, I could borrow?” I reach in my pencil case, giving him a pen. “Thanks. I’m Zack by the way.” He kept on talking. “Zack stop talking and leave the new girl alone!” Mr.Horvitz says, giving peace throughout the period. After a long day of introducing myself, I made my way into Bayside’s state of the art library. I entered, greeting the library lady at the desk. I go take a seat in the far back, away from where no one could see me. I take off my glasses as I pull out my books and start studying, in the meantime.  Zack’s Pov “Zack, what are we going here?” Slater asks me, following me into the library. “I want to piss off the dorks,” I say throwing a piece of crumpled up paper at a nerd. “We should be at The Max with the gang.” He says as we walk towards the back. There I saw it. An angel in disguise. Her brown skin glowed in the sun that was beaming on her. Her curly brown hair blew with the breeze as she looked down at her book. I held Slater back, showing him what I was seeing. “A babe in the library!” Slater says, his voice a bit loud. The girl looked up at me. She squinted as she placed her glasses on. “Zack?” She says looking at me confusingly. “New girl?” I say back surprised. I watched as she closed her book, looking down.
