Chapter 4: The Suspects

With the stalker behind bars, Jessica and her team shifted their focus to other possible suspects in Lily's disappearance. They knew that there had to be someone else involved, as the stalker couldn't have acted alone.

They began by re-interviewing Lily's friends and family, as well as anyone else who had been in the area around the time of her disappearance. They also combed through security footage from nearby businesses and homes.

As they reviewed the footage, they noticed a suspicious-looking man lurking around the woods behind Lily's house. They were able to track down the man and bring him in for questioning.

The man was uncooperative at first, but after some pressing, he finally revealed that he had been hired by someone to spy on Lily. He gave them the name of the person who had hired him: Lily's ex-boyfriend, Mike.

Jessica was shocked by this revelation. She knew Mike, and he had been one of the first people she had interviewed when she arrived in Willow Creek. He had seemed genuinely concerned about Lily's disappearance, and she had no reason to suspect him at the time.

But as they dug deeper, they found more evidence that pointed to Mike's involvement. They discovered that he had been in the area at the time of Lily's disappearance, and his phone had pinged off of a cell tower near the woods.

They also found a letter in Mike's apartment that seemed to be a confession of sorts. In it, he detailed how he had become obsessed with Lily after their breakup, and how he had hired the stalker to kidnap her and bring her to the cabin.

Jessica was horrified by the evidence against Mike, but she knew that she had to bring him in. She arrested him and brought him in for questioning, and he eventually confessed to his involvement in Lily's kidnapping.

As she left the interrogation room, Jessica couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment. She had wanted to believe that Mike was innocent, but the evidence had proved otherwise. But she also knew that justice had been served, and that Lily's family could finally have closure.
