Chapter 7: The Psychic

439 Words
Jessica couldn't believe that Madame Lila's prediction had come true. She had been skeptical about the psychic's ability to help her solve the case, but now she was starting to believe that there was more to Madame Lila's gift than she had originally thought. As Jessica sat by Lily's bedside, she wondered if there was anything else Madame Lila could tell her about the case. She decided to go back to the psychic and see if there were any more clues that she could uncover. When she arrived at Madame Lila's shop, the psychic greeted her warmly. Jessica explained that they had found Lily and that Mike was in custody, but she still had a nagging feeling that there was more to the case than what they had uncovered. Madame Lila studied Jessica for a moment before taking her hand. She closed her eyes and concentrated, and Jessica felt a strange sensation wash over her. She couldn't explain it, but she felt like Madame Lila was tapping into something deep within her. Finally, Madame Lila opened her eyes and spoke. "There's something else you need to know," she said. The one who helped him carry out the abduction. It's someone close to Lily." Jessica's mind raced as she tried to process what Madame Lila was saying. Could it be possible that someone Lily knew had helped Mike take her? It seemed unlikely, but Jessica knew that she couldn't discount any possibilities. "Can you tell me anything else?" she asked, hoping that Madame Lila had more information. The psychic closed her eyes again and concentrated. This time, it took longer, and Jessica could feel a sense of tension building in the room. Finally, Madame Lila opened her eyes and spoke. "I'm sorry," she said. "That's all I can tell you. But be careful. There's more to this case than you realize." With that, Madame Lila released Jessica's hand, and Jessica left the shop, feeling more confused than ever. She knew that she had to follow up on Madame Lila's lead, but she also knew that it was going to be difficult to uncover the truth. As she drove back to the station, Jessica couldn't shake the feeling that they had only scratched the surface of this case. She knew that there were more secrets to uncover and more people to question. But she also knew that she was determined to get to the bottom of it, no matter what it took
