Jessica's mind was reeling with the new information she had received from Madame Lila. She knew that she needed to follow up on the lead about someone close to Lily being involved in her abduction, but she had no idea where to start.
As she sat in her office, trying to make sense of everything, she received a call from one of her colleagues. "Jessica, we found something," he said. "You need to come down to the evidence room right away."
Jessica rushed down to the evidence room, her heart racing. When she arrived, her colleague showed her a set of photos that had been taken at Mike's house during the investigation.
"Take a look at this," he said, pointing to a photo of a door in the basement. "We found this hidden room behind it."
Jessica's curiosity was piqued. She followed her colleague down to the basement and examined the door. It looked like a regular closet door, but when they opened it, they found a staircase leading down to a small, hidden room.
As she entered the room, Jessica felt a sense of dread wash over her. The room was filled with old furniture, cobwebs, and dust, but there was something else there, too. Something that she couldn't quite put her finger on.
As she scanned the room, her eyes fell on a small wooden chest in the corner. It looked like it had been there for years, untouched. Jessica approached it and slowly opened the lid.
Inside, she found a stack of letters and photographs. She recognized Lily's handwriting on one of the letters and began to read. The letters detailed Lily's relationship with Mike and the abuse she had suffered at his hands. There were also photographs of bruises and injuries that Lily had sustained over the years.
As Jessica read through the letters, she realized that this was the evidence she had been looking for. This was the proof that Mike had been abusing Lily and that he had been the one to abduct her.
But as she continued to read, her heart sank. There was something else in the letters, too. Something that made her blood run cold. Lily had written about the person who had helped Mike. The person who had been close to her. The person who had betrayed her.
Jessica knew that she had to find out who this person was. But she also knew that it was going to be dangerous. Whoever it was, they were still out there, and they were still a threat.
