~Kalean~
"Your Highness."
"Rufus. Do I really need to remind you of the rules? We are not in Ravenwood territory. Drop the titles before someone outside this room hears you."
I heard the footsteps of my bodyguard moved closer. Rufus was a wall of a man, a warrior who had been trained since birth to protect the royal bloodline. To anyone else, he was just another student at the university, but to me, he was a shadow I could never shake off.
"I’m sorry, Kalean. It was out of habit."
I finally turned, my dark eyes narrowing as I looked at him. Rufus was holding out my mobile phone, his expression as hard as the mountains we called home.
"I’ve finished unpacking your bags. And your father, the King, just sent a message."
He held the phone out. I took it,
Every time we moved back to school, the routine was the same. We couldn't just move around alone. My mother, the Queen, wouldn't allow it.
That was her only condition for letting us be in Ivory spire; we had to take protection with us.
Rhet was Caspian’s shadow. Benjamin belonged to Lucien. And Rufus was mine.
They were all enrolled as students, blending into the crowd, but they were the elite. Strong, lethal warriors from the Ravenwood pack.
No one on this campus had a clue who we really were. To them, we were just the wealthy, arrogant triplets. Only Sofia, our cousin, and these three guards knew the weight of the crowns we were destined to wear.
Personally, I hated the babysitting. I could take care of myself. If anyone was stupid enough to jump an Alpha Prince like me, they deserved the funeral that followed.
I swiped the screen, my eyes moving through the text from my father.
‘Rogue disturbance. Two packs in the south. Alphas seeking royal intervention. Handle it, Kalean.’
I let out a frustrated breath, handing the phone back to Rufus.
"He never stops, does he? Tell the private scouts to move out immediately. I want eyes on those packs by tonight. If the rogues are still there, they’re to handle it and report back to me. I’m not leaving the city right now."
"The King won't be happy about you delegating, Kalean."
"The King isn't the one whose world just turned upside down in a kitchen."
I walked back to the window, my hands gripping the edge of the desk in my study until the wood groaned.
"My mind is busy, Rufus. I can't focus on border problems when I have... this."
I didn't have to explain what 'this' was. Rufus had been there. He’d seen the way Lucien and I froze when we saw Jasmine.
He’d heard that primal roar of 'Mate' that had practically shaken the glass in the windows.
"It’s absurd," I muttered. "A mate. Our mate. Fate has a sick sense of humor."
I’d spent my whole life prepared to lead. I’d been taught how to fight, how to rule, and how to protect my brothers. I was used to being the one in control. But sharing? I shared my face with my brothers. I shared my childhood. But the idea of sharing a woman sharing the one soul meant for me was something I wasn't intending for. Sharing wasn't in an Alpha’s nature. It definitely wasn't in mine.
"You think you'll be able to do it?" Rufus asked quietly, his voice lacking the usual formality.
"Share her?"
"I don't have a choice, do I? It’s the bond. If I try to take her for myself, I will break my brothers. If they try to take her from me, they will break me too. We’re triplets, Rufus. We’re one soul in three bodies. But God... it’s going to be hard."
I closed my eyes, and that’s when the wave hit me.
It started as a warmth in my chest, a sudden spike in adrenaline that didn't belong to me. I gripped the desk harder,
Being triplets meant our emotions leaked into one another unless we fought to block it out.
Right now, Caspian’s walls were completely down. He was wide open, and he was drowning in a pleasurable sensation.
"Caspian," I hissed, my voice a sounding like a growl.
"What is it?"
"He’s with her. He’s... he’s kissing her."
The link was bare and real, so real that I could feel the desire pulsing through Caspian, hot, thick, and demanding.
I could feel her lips against his, the way she tasted like honey and oranges. I could feel his hands on her too, It was a sensory overload that made my own wolf Kain surge against my ribs, claws out and teeth bared.
The jealousy was there! It was Caspian who had found her first. He was already marking his territory, already tasting the girl who belonged to all three of us, while I was stuck here reading reports about rogues and unpacking luggage.
"He’s already with her," I said, the words coming out as a snarl. "I haven't even had a chance to speak to her. Not really. I just stood there like a statue while she looked at us like we were about to snuggle her."
I thought back to that moment in the kitchen. She looked so small. So fragile. When we’d roared that word 'Mate' she’d looked like a frightened little thing. Her green eyes had been wide with a terror I didn't understand.
She had run then, and I’d let her. I didn't want to hunt her down like prey. I didn't want to come on too strong and make her run forever. I wanted to be the one she felt safe with.
But now, feeling Caspian’s lips on hers through the bond, I realized I was being too patient.
"She ran because she was scared, Kalean. Anyone would be," Rufus said, trying to be the voice of reason. "Three Alphas? Three royals Princes? And one girl?
"She can run as much as she wants," I whispered, my eyes flashing a dark, lethal gold as I stared at my own reflection in the glass.
"She can hide in that dorm room. she can try to pretend we don't exist. But she’s mine. She belongs to the crown, and she belongs to me. I’m not going to sit back and watch Caspian take everything while I wait for her to stop being afraid.
My wolf was pacing in my head, a dark, beast that wanted to tear through the city just to get a single touch of he skin.
"Tomorrow, She has no idea what’s coming for her," I muttered, a dark smirk finally tugging at the corner of my mouth. "But by tomorrow, she’ll know. She isn't just a student anymore. She’s the heart of the Ravenwood line. And I’m going to make sure she remembers my name..."
