~IT’S TIME FOR VENGEANCE ~

1127 Words
5 YEARS LATER. ~Vivian’s pov~ I watched keenly as my daughter ran freely around the airport. “Mum New York is so cool” she screamed, jumping. “I told you, did I not?” I smiled. “I just did not think it would be this amazing” She was finally calm. “Let's just wait for the driver Mr Jared will be sending to pick us up,” I told her. “Oh my goodness!! This is a dream come true” she squeaked. It just felt like yesterday when I held her fragile self in my trembling hands. I had labored for four hours that day before she finally came out and looking back it was worth the struggles and pain. The only betrayal was that she had her father's blue eyes and that made her a center of attraction anywhere we go to. “Your daughter is so beautiful, ma'am” an old lady acknowledged. “Thank you ma'am” I appreciated it. Soon, the driver came to pick us up. ~Austin's pov~ It's been five years since I've last seen Vivian, but I can tell she's safe. Dora and I had been doing so well settling our differences, but my mum still wouldn't talk to me after she heard what I did to Vivian. I placed a call to the secretary. “Please, I want to see you in my office” “In a minute sir,” she hung up. “Good morning Mr Austin” “Good morning Miss” “How about the proposal we submitted to the new company in the city?” I inquired. “Well, we've sent them six proposals within the past two weeks, but they've all been getting rejected” she replied. “Now I know why this company is stagnant - I have incompetent workers. Just to make them accept our proposal? Is your proposal not appealing enough?” I yelled. “I'm sorry about that sir. But I think the issue is with the CEO of the company” she replied with composure, like I had not earlier shouted. Guess they've gotten acquainted with my bossy behaviors. “Who the hell is this CEO that everyone is talking about?” “According to research sir, her name is Mrs Vivian. Rumors have it that she is a single mum, but she evaded the question at the ‘Business Interview’ TV show last night” she responded. “Mind if I see this lady?” I curiously asked. The secretary reached out for her phone as she searched for the so-called lady's image. “Here it is Sir” she extended her phone to me. Lo and behold! This was my Vivian! My ex-wife! “You can leave” I smiled at the secretary who had a confused look. I wouldn't want her to notice my destabilized mood. The company has been trying everything to partner with this new company that is suddenly making a wave in the city just two weeks after their commencement of operation but all to no avail. While I was stupidly doubting the competence of my workers who had been here with me despite all the adversities, I forgot that karma was surely going to locate me. Many of my business associates who also had a company of their own have told me about the progress they've been making ever since they partnered with the new company. “This is so ruined” I lowered myself into my chair as I ruffled my hair. “This is strictly business and nothing more,” I told myself as I thought of a way to approach her myself. ~Vivian's pov~ “I knew this was just you calling. Your hardworking and relentless spirit will take you places” I was with Jared on a phone call when I heard a knock. “You may come in.” “You need to attend to something?” He asked over the phone. “Yes,” I replied as I gave a questioning look to the secretary. “Alright then. Extend my regards to my little one”, he hung up. “Good afternoon Ma'am” “How may I help you?” “The Austin company just sent in another proposal to partner with us minutes ago. This is the…..” “I know. Seventh proposal”, I interrupted her as she nodded slowly. “This is my company and I choose who and who will not partner with me” I reminded her. “Do you have anything to say?” “Ma'am, that company is a well-known one in all of New York City. They've gained recognition and received many awards for their productive capacity”, she persuaded me. “I understand your sentiments and I know you are committed to the growth of this company, but I still make the rules” I explained. “ I get that ma'am”, she left my office. Well, let's see who will keep running into me begging for mercy while I carry on my revenge plans for him and his company. “This is just the beginning,” I thought as I spun my chair, smiling wickedly. ~Austin's pov~ I was distracted throughout today and I can't wait to get home and sleep deeply. Vivian's image kept taunting me. I just couldn't get over her long legs that were crossed as she sat down during the interview. Not to talk of her physique, which now portrayed how much of a grown woman she has become. “Dude, you have a wife” my subconsciousness reminded me. I just hissed out in frustration as I got a long glance from my driver. “You might want to pay more than the necessary attention to the road than my face” I hissed again, looking through the window. All this shouldn't be happening now. Other infant companies are suddenly making a name while mine is slowly beginning to sound ancient. I finally made up my mind to meet up with her during the week. I need this! “We're home sir” The driver opened the car for me to alight. Getting inside, I noticed everywhere was empty. Dora, that I know, would welcome me with a deep hug or would probably be waiting for me while she watched the television. “Dora!” I called out. No response. Just then, I saw a stock card held under the remote. I reached for it and met the biggest shock of my life. “I'm sorry Austin. I have to do this. Don't bother looking for me” I just fell to the floor trying to process everything that was happening.
