Enya expected herself to feel horrified at the sight of the bone blade, but she didn't react at all. It was true the wicked curve and sickening white gleam of the blade made her sick, but her hand clutched it firmly. Her heart raced, or at least it should have, but as she listened to its beating, she found her breath had not quickened and her pulse steady. In fact, it was as if her mind wished to be terrified, but her body did not. Her hand held it comfortably and turned the handle in her palm as if she'd wielded the blade a thousand times before.
