CHRISTMAS EVE WAS A quiet affair. Peter and I spent it together by ourselves. We would have a full day tomorrow with all the families gathering at Uncle Charlie's. Even Peter’s family would be there. We had spent the day walking the beach, playing with Shaylee, and relaxing. It had been a hectic couple of weeks and I was content to have a ‘do-nothing’ day. We spent hours talking, alternated with time spent quietly reading and listening to Christmas carols. I prepared a late dinner for us and then we were off to church.
