“You don’t have any plans for today,do you babe?” He asks

“Not really,why?”

“Because we’re going out today. And no, sweetheart… you don’t get a say in where.Just… dress nice. And try not to piss my mother off within five seconds of meeting her.”

“Your mother???You’re taking me to your parents?”

“…Yeah. Figured this was long overdue, considering your nosy ass always wants to know everything else about my life. But I swear if you embarrass me in front of them, I'll take you over my knee right after dinner.”

“But you told me you hated them…”

A frown flickering across his face for just a moment—but then his hand slides down to grip my ass, pulling me closer against his side.

“…Yeah, don't get me wrong sweetheart… I do. But I’ve been hearing the damn nagging to get my ass over there. And now that you're here?They would love to meet you—so just… try not to make a damn scene.”

“Hmm,alright”

“…Just like that, sweetheart? No more questions or bitching about meeting them? You're really not gonna ask me what I've said about you to them already?”

He raises a brow, his gaze searching mine,almost cautiously as if wondering where the usual fighting spirit went.

“What did you say about me?”

He pauses at that, almost like he hadn't expected the question.I can tell he's thinking through the answers he's given over the past week and trying to decide how he should respond.

“ …The usual stuff.They know your name, what you look like, that you're a goddamn spitfire and drive me crazy… that I'd go to hell and back if it means you smile.And obviously that I've been hiding you from them, 'cause apparently that makes me some kind of coward.”

“But you said you don’t talk with them”.

“I don’t. Not usually. But they know when something—or someone —is different in my life. And trust me, sweetheart… you? You're definitely different.

...Happy now? Or do we need to argue about this too before I finally take you over there?”

“It’s fine.Gonna eat before we go darling?”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah… I'm hungry, sweetheart.But you better eat too. Last thing I need is you swooning in front of them 'cause your ass decides to pass out from not eating breakfast.”

“Okay sweetie,I’ll take cereal.”

He leans back against the counter—his arms crossing over his chest with lazy arrogance.

“I'll take eggs. Scrambled. And coffee. Black like my f*****g soul, remember?Don't worry about making it though… Jeffery's already got it covered before he left. Bastard knew what time we'd finally wake up today somehow… creepy fucker.”

I finish up and get dressed,wearing a blue sundress with a slit on the side.

His eyes already dragging over my dress.

“Took you long enough, sweetheart.”

His voice is rough—but there's no real bite behind it as he steps toward me,his hands gripping my waist firmly before spinning me around to get a better look at my dress.

“You look beautiful...Good choice. Now let’s go before I change my damn mind about this whole thing.”

He leads me outside where his shiny black Mercedes Benz sits in the driveway, already waiting by the curb.He opens the door for me like the damn gentleman he is, his hand sliding over my ass as i climb inside—. He moves around to the driver side and climbs in himself, starting the car with a low roar before backing out of the driveway and pulling out onto the highway. He glances at me briefly before looking back at the road.

Someone calls his phone.

“Please answer this for me baby and put on loud speakers”.

It was Jamie calling.

“Hermano,seems like your now attached to your girl because i don’t see you in your damn company.But that’s not why I called…I got this text from an unknown number telling me to inform you that there’s gonna be trouble if you don’t hand over the territory—“.

“What?Uh wait,I’m with my girlfriend,we’ll talk later.Tiana end it!”

I do as he says clearly confused.

“What did he mean by that??!”

“It’s probably just a wrong number,don’t worry.Uhh—do you want burgers,I can stop by that drive thru and get burgers yeah?”

“Okay,sure”.

I wash off what I just heard from Jamie but something still felt off.
