My face warming slightly as I quickly unlock my phone to reply. My fingers hover over the screen for a second before typing.
—“Yeah… I’m fine.Leila and I are just getting ice cream.“
Meanwhile—Leila watches this entire exchange with raised eyebrows and an amused smirk. She leans forward, resting her chin on one hand while giving me a knowing look.
“Ohhh~ So someone’s still got it bad too.Guess we both lose today huh?“
“Yeah whatever.”
Leila cackles—
“Uh-huh.Whatever.I’ll be sure to remind you that the next time you melt into a puddle because of him.“
My phone vibrates against the table—my eyes flicking toward it despite myself. Aiden’s name flashes on the screen again, making my heart race just slightly.
