Nightmares and the lovely new girl?

2986 Words
Walking back out into the rain, soccer ball in her hand, Elizabeth couldn't help but think that she foolishly got her hopes up when she thought that maybe she could actually be with someone that felt the same was about her. Maybe just one time someone wouldn't be trying to use her by playing with her feelings, but as of right now it looked as if she had gotten her hopes up. Once she was in the backyard, standing in from of the practice soccer goal that she had set up back there, she started kicking the ball into the goal while allowing her thoughts of what had happened in her bedroom flow through her head. She herself was sure that she would be willing to take things further, despite knowing the risks. She knew how she felt about Elaine and she was willing to do whatever she had to do to make sure that they had some sort of chance together. If she had to remain secretive about who came over on the weekends, then she would. If she had to lie about why she stayed after school with Elaine so much, she would. Hell, she was practically a master at lying to the staff at her school, so it really wouldn't be much different. Elizabeth didn't know how long she was out there, kicking the ball and allowing her thoughts to constantly repeat themselves in her head, but she knew that all of the thinking that she had done still hadn't changed her mind about things. Soon, when the light from the back porch was no longer enough light for her to see, Elizabeth picked the ball up and started to walk back inside of the house. She tossed the soccer ball on the back porch before she walked inside, quickly making her way upstairs to that she didn't get too much water on the floor. Once she got upstairs, she quickly grabbed a towel and washrag as well as some clothes from her bedroom, making sure to be quite of the sleeping Elaine before slipping into the bathroom. Starting her shower water, she soon stripped of her wet clothes and then stepping into the warm shower, planning on getting the shower over with quickly so that she herself could get some sleep as well. Getting her shower done as planned, she got out and dried off before pulling on her clothes, which consisted of a black pair of underwear and a matching bra seeing as she had guests over and didn't feel like sleeping without it on yet. The pair of light grey short shorts that she pulled on were followed by a black tank top. After cleaning the bathroom, she soon headed into her bedroom and smiled slightly when she saw Elaine sleeping once again. Seeing that the woman had fallen asleep at the foot of the bed, Elizabeth walked over to a side of the bed and turned the comforter back before walking to the foot of the bed and gently picking Elaine up. The woman mumbled something in her sleep and for a moment Elizabeth was worried that she had woken her, but the woman only rested her head on Elizabeth's shoulder, never waking up. Elizabeth gently walked Elaine to the section of the bed she had pulled the comforter back from and gently laid her down before covering her up before she herself walked around the bed and got in as well. When Elizabeth got in bed, she laid on her side and faced away from Elaine, knowing that if she faced the woman she would eventually end up getting closer to her throughout the night and she wasn't sure that Elaine would like that very much. It didn't take Elizabeth long to get to sleep and shortly after exhaustion from the day overcame her, the nightmare started. Almost every night she was plagued by them, most of the time that consisted of her reliving the crash that took her parents away from her in the first place. However, tonight's nightmare was a little different and it was easily one that she hated more than anything when the rare occasion occurred and this nightmare tore into her mind at night. Elizabeth was once again pulled into the late December night on the dreadful street corner where it had happened. Looking around for a moment, she soon spotted herself standing on the corner of the street and immediately knew that this nightmare was going to be the one where no matter what she did or said to try and stop the accident, it would never happen. Sure enough, her parents soon pulled up to the corner and Elizabeth could hear her mother yelling from across the abandoned street, knowing that it would be happening soon. "You've got to go!" Elizabeth yelled, not knowing that she had also spoke it in her sleep. "Mom, Dad, move!" She yelled as she started to run across the street, though she soon found that she was getting nowhere. It felt like her feet were being weighed down, making it impossible for her to get anywhere near the car in time to warn her parents. Elizabeth was completely wrapped up in the nightmare that she was having that she wasn't aware of the fact that Elaine was slowly starting to wake up, having heard the mumbles as well as felt the small kicks to the back of her legs. Turning over, still half asleep, Elaine watched Elizabeth as she continued to mumble as well as kick, her nightmare getting closer and closer to its terrible ending. Soon the nightmare came to its horrible ending and it caused Elizabeth's eyes to suddenly open wide as she gasped for air, her eyes filling with tears as she thought back to the night that the actual accident had happened. As she started to sob, she soon felt a pair of arms wrap around her and she didn't bother to push them away, though she did try her best to keep from completely breaking down in front of the other woman. Telling herself that she needed to be strong as she hid her face in Elaine shoulder, her sobs soon subsided as she managed to calm herself down, the feeling of Elaine's hand gently rubbing her back helping greatly. Soon Elizabeth mumbled a 'thank you' before starting to get comfortable in the arms of the other woman, not wanting to pull away and clearly Elaine did not want to let her go seeing as she made no move to push the younger woman away. Eventually Elizabeth had gotten so comfortable in the woman's arms that she started to drift off once again, yawning shortly before she started to drift off to sleep. Feeling the hand still moving on her back, she mumbled a 'goodnight' as she wrapped her arms around the woman's waist and then finally fell into a deep sleep that managed to stay peaceful throughout the night. Surprisingly Elizabeth didn't suffer from another nightmare while she slept in Elaine's arms, which was rather rare seeing as she normally had more than one nightmare a night, leaving her exhausted in the morning. However, a second nightmare never came and Elizabeth wasn't about to complain about it. She happily took the extra hours of sleep, knowing that she truly needed them. Elizabeth woke the next morning when she felt someone shaking her shoulder. She mumbled something in her sleep and snuggled into Elaine a little more before the shaking got slightly harder. Groaning slightly, she slowly forced her eyes open and moved her arms found around Elaine's waist, rolling onto her back carefully so that she didn't wake Elaine who was currently still sleeping. Elizabeth moved one hand to rub her eyes before looking to her right to see who exactly had shook her awake, though she had an idea. Spotting Jamie, she slowly sat up and looked at her a little worried, wondering if something was wrong though that look soon was replaced with a smile when she heard Jamie's stomach growl. Chuckling slightly, Elizabeth threw the comforter off of herself and got out of bed, soon walking towards her bedroom door once she was sure that the comforter was still covering Elaine. The moment that they were out of the room and starting downstairs, Jamie spoke up speaking for the first time that morning since Elizabeth had woken. "Liz? What happened to your lip? And your cheek...?" Jamie asked and Elizabeth could hear the curiosity in her voice. Elizabeth didn't say anything to answer the question until she was in the kitchen, getting out some eggs for breakfast because she knew from the other few times that Jamie had stayed over, it was the girl's favorite. "Last night when you were sleeping, I went to your house to collect a few of your things. That bastard didn't like the idea of me having you stay here for a while, so he made it known." Elizabeth simply said, setting the eggs on the counter before she started looking for a pan that she could use to fix the eggs. Jamie didn't say anything for a while as Elizabeth prepared everything for the breakfast she was getting ready to make. "S-so I'm not staying there anymore...?" Jamie asked after a moment, looking down at her hands as she jumped up to sit on the counter. Elizabeth nodded slightly while she turned on the stove before she started to crack some eggs into a rather large bowl that was sitting on the counter. "You don't have to go back there anytime soon. You can stay with me as long as you'd like to. I can easily drop you off at school before I go and if you need anything else I'll make sure that you have it. I'm going to look out for you and make sure that you have everything that you could possibly need." Elizabeth said softly while she still worked on cracking some eggs, soon deciding that she had enough before she started to add a little bit of pepper and salt to the mix. Elizabeth didn't hear Jamie say anything for a few minutes, though she did suddenly feel a pair of arms wrap around her waist. Elizabeth smiled softly and placed her hands over Jamie's, lightly rubbing them and telling her that having her stay was nothing when she heard the countless number of thank yous that the girl gave. Jamie soon let Elizabeth go and she finally started to cook the eggs while the younger girl walked off to do something else, something that at the time was unknown to Elizabeth. Not that she really cared what the younger girl did, she was just a little curious as to what she was doing this early in the morning. Usually the girl wasn't up until after 10 in the morning, or at least that is what she had told Elizabeth. However, at the moment, it was a little bit after 8 a.m. Elizabeth didn't really do anything to see what the girl was doing, though she soon heard it. A moment or two later, Elizabeth heard a familiar song start to play through the surround sound system in the living room at a level that wasn't too low nor too loud. It was perfect. As 'Find You' by Zedd played, Elizabeth couldn't help from swaying her hips slightly to the song as well as sing along when the singing finally started. The entire time that she was cooking, she sang and danced, getting completely lost in the music just as Jamie had. Once the eggs were done, Elizabeth started fixing three plates, planning on waking Elaine up before the three of them sat down to eat. However, Elizabeth didn't really need to go upstairs and get Elaine because just as she was setting the table, the very woman walked down the stairs, yawning cutely. "Morning sleepy head." Elizabeth said simply while watching the woman walk towards the dining room. She was still wearing the jeans from yesterday, seeing as she didn't have anything else to change into and the hoodie that she was wearing still looked as cute on her as it did the moment that Elizabeth had given it to her in the parking lot of the club. Her hair, which had been in a ponytail for she had fallen asleep last night was now down and had a little bit of a bed head look to it and Elizabeth thought it looked adorable. Feeling her cheeks starting to warm up slightly, Elizabeth quickly looked away and focused her attention on the table that she was getting ready to sit down at. "Morning." Elaine said softly before taking her seat next to Elizabeth as Jamie sat down across from the two on the opposite side of the table. They all started eating in silence, really too hungry to start making conversation with the other. Jamie was the first to finish and got back for seconds, followed by Elizabeth. Elaine however, didn't go back for seconds once she had finished and simply sat there as she smiled. It didn't take long for all of them to be done, and once they were, Jamie suggested watching a movie because she could still hear the rain outside the dining room window and that meant that there was no way anything was going to be done outside. Elizabeth immediately looked over at Elaine to see if she had any objections to the idea and when Elaine didn't say anything against it, she told Jamie to pick out whatever movie she wanted. Roughly ten minuets later, after the kitchen table had been cleaned, Jamie started the movie which happened to be, The Maze Runner. Elizabeth really didn't care what movie was playing, as long as she got to sit with Elaine and she did. Jamie had chosen a seat on the love seat and Elizabeth had laid down on the couch, leaving Elaine to choose the second cushion on the love seat, the recliner of a spot next to Elizabeth on the couch. Elaine had chosen to lay next to Elizabeth on the couch, leaving the dark haired girl in a very happy mood. Elizabeth had been laying to where her back was pressed against the back of the couch and that left Elaine to lay on her side as well with her back pressed to Elizabeth's front. Elizabeth wrapped one of her arms around the woman's waist and smiled happily when the woman didn't make a move to pull away from the touch. This was how they remained for a while, peacefully watching the movie. No one made a sound while the movie was playing and Elaine didn't move away from Elizabeth the entire time. Even when they finally had to change the movie, Elizabeth and Elaine remained in their position on the couch as they allowed Jamie to pick the second movie that were going to watch which turned out to be Vampire Academy. Once again, nothing really happened while the beginning of the movie was playing, though that changed when the doorbell suddenly rang when the movie was about halfway over. "Elaine, can you let me up?" Elizabeth asked as she lightly tapped the woman's hips. The woman nodded before standing, allowing Elizabeth to get up so that she could answer the door. As Elizabeth walked towards the door, she pulled her phone out of her pocket to see what time it was while wondering who exactly could have been knocking on her door. When she noticed that it was a little after 11 a.m. so she immediately ruled out that it could have been Diana for two reasons. One, Diana would have called ahead. Two, Diana didn't get up before noon on the weekends anyway. Elizabeth groaned slightly to herself as she slipped her IPhone back into her pocket and ran a hand through her hair. Elizabeth reached the door and unlocked it before opening it, a slight frown on her face as she did so, though that frown soon faded when she noticed the rather attractive brunette that was standing in front of her. The girls hair was brunette of course and it was styled to where it curled rather well, fitting her face really well. Her eyes were a light green and once again fit her rather well despite the fact that they looked slightly confused. Elizabeth allowed her eyes to move over the girl's shorter body while taking in her outfit. A pair of black jeans that matched a black tank top, which was covered in a in a burgundy button up shirt that was unbuttoned. Covering the shirt was a black leather jacket and on her feet were a pair of light grey boots, which Elizabeth thought went really well with what she was wearing. Elizabeth was pulled out of her little daze when she heard the girl clear her throat slightly, her face looking completely confused. "I'm sorry, do I know you?" The girl asked, causing Elizabeth to raise her eyebrow slightly. No, the girl definitely did not know Elizabeth but was it bad for Elizabeth to say that she wanted her to? That she wanted to get to know the stunning brunette that was standing on her front porch? "No, I don't believe that you do. Who are you exactly?" Elizabeth could help but ask as she leaned against the frame of the door, folding her arms across her chest as she waited for the girl to respond. It took the girl a moment to answer, though when she did she smiled happily, showing off her straight white teeth as she extended her hand for Elizabeth to shake. Elizabeth moved her hand to accept the girls, shaking it as she listened to the girl introduce herself. "I'm Samantha Black."
