A little flirting?

1986 Words
The rest of the ride Elaine didn't ask Elizabeth anything else. She was still trying to get over the fact that Elizabeth was willing to go so far out of her way to help these kids when they needed it. Then she just shrugged it off as if it wasn't that big of a deal? Elaine, couldn't believe that Elizabeth didn't see that greatness in all that she was doing. While Elaine was still lost in her thoughts, Elizabeth soon pulled into the little parking lot of the café before putting the car in park and turning it off. Without saying anything, Elizabeth took the keys out of the ignition and opened her door, getting out of the car before shutting it. Walking around the front of the car she couldn't help but look at Elaine through the front windshield, finding that the woman looked beautiful when lost in her own thoughts. Elizabeth smiled happily while walking over to the passenger side door, soon opening it and offering Elaine a hand after she cleared her throat slightly to get the woman's attention. Elaine jumped ever so slightly as she was pulled out of her thoughts and then looked at the hand that had been offered to her, smiling as she reached out and took ahold of it. Elizabeth smiled even wider when she felt Elaine's soft and delicate hand take ahold of hers, causing her cheeks to redden ever so slightly. Elizabeth helped Elaine out of the car before closing the door and then pressing the button on the keys that would lock the doors. Without letting go of Elaine's hand, Elizabeth started walking to the entrance of the little café. "Thank you." Elaine said when she saw that Elizabeth had opened the door for the café for her, smiling happily as she walked inside, gently pulling Elizabeth behind her once she was inside. Elizabeth just smiled while blushing a little deeper, nodding happily as she moved her free hand to run it through her hair like she always seemed to do when she was getting a little shy about something on a little nervous. "Not a problem. Is there a certain place that you want to sit after we order? Oh, I'm paying by the way. No arguments." Elizabeth stated when she saw that Elaine was opening her mouth to say something against it. Elaine wanted to pay and try to make up for staying the night at Elizabeth's without planning, but it was clear that Elizabeth wasn't going to let that happen. Elaine jutted out her lower lip in a cute little pout before huffing in agreement to what had been said. "Fine, I'll let you pay and I really don't care where we sit. As long as I can still get to know you a little more." Elaine suggested before looking up at the menu to see what she would want to get. While she did this, Elizabeth found herself running her thumb over Elaine's knuckles without really thinking because she was wondering if she could possibly get to know Elaine at the same time that the woman found out more about Elizabeth. "Sure, as long as I can ask you things as well. I want to get to know a little about you too." Elizabeth said, as she looked over at Elaine, playing with her lip ring slightly as she waited for an answer. While she waited, she couldn't help but notice that Elaine's cheeks were slightly flushed, as if she was blushing from something. That's when Elizabeth suddenly felt her hand being squeezed. She looked down and noticed that she still hadn't let go of Elaine's hand, which caused her to blush deeper. "You can ask whatever you'd like and it...it's okay. I... I actually didn't mind it." Elaine said, after she heard Elizabeth mumble an apology for still having a hold of her hand, before quickly letting it go. Elizabeth was more than slightly shocked to hear Elaine say this. Elaine was okay with Elizabeth holding her hand? Just the thought caused the blush on Elizabeth cheeks to remain there even longer, far longer than it had ever stayed before. Elaine looked over at Elizabeth and Elizabeth was able to watch a wide smile cross her face, which caused Elizabeth to look away shyly and play with her lip ring a little bit more. Elaine let out a small laugh before taking ahold of Elizabeth's hand and pulling her up to the ordering counter since it was time for them to order what they wanted. Elaine swayed slightly while she thought for a moment more before ordering a plain, large cup of black coffee and a little 6-inch turkey sub with some mustard on it. Elizabeth smiled at the little sway that Elaine was giving before ordering a large French Vanilla mocha and a 6-inch ham sub with mayonnaise on it. Elaine turned her nose up at the mentioning of mayonnaise which caused Elizabeth to chuckle ever so slightly. "Don't like mayonnaise much?" Elizabeth asked, while looking over at the woman, watching as Elaine shook her head in response. Elizabeth chuckled slightly once again as she looked back at the people that were working behind the counter. It didn't take the two women long to get what they had ordered and once they had it, they headed off to a table that was in the far corner of the café in the back. Elizabeth took her seat first and smiled when Elaine took hers. For the first few minutes that they were sitting there neither Elizabeth nor Elaine said anything because they were a little busy eating the sandwiches that they had bought. After both of them were about halfway through their sandwiches, Elaine sat hers down and reached to chase the bite that she had swallowed with a drink of her coffee. Once she had her drink she put her cup back down on the table and looked at Elizabeth, waiting a moment before Elizabeth put her sandwich down and looked back at Elaine. "How tall are you?" Elaine asked, clearly wanting to start the little questioning so that she could get to know a little more about Elizabeth. Smiling at the first question, Elizabeth took a napkin and wiped her mouth off before leaning back into the little booth that she had been sitting in. "5 foot 11. I get it from my dad, mom wasn't really that tall." Elizabeth explained when she saw the shocked looked on Elaine's face. It was a look that Elizabeth was used to getting every time someone heard how tall she actually was. "Damn, you're taller than I thought you really were. Your turn now by the way." Elaine said while smiling a little. She wanted to make a sort of game out of it and Elizabeth was more than happy to go along with whatever Elaine wanted to do. "I get that a lot. Alright, I'm going to have to ask you if you have ever thought of getting any piercings." Elizabeth knew it was a random question, but then again, now was the time to get to know whatever she wanted to about Elaine and that meant that some of her questions would be a little strange. "I haven't actually, they've never really crossed my mind much. What does the tattoo on your forearm say?" Elaine asked while raising an eyebrow, having been curious to see what the tattoo had said from the moment that she had seen it. Elizabeth raised her eyebrow slightly before smiling. She reached out and moved her coffee to the side as well as her sandwich, doing the same to Elaine's before placing both of her forearms on the table, facing upward so that the quotes could be seen. "Have a look for yourself." Elizabeth said softly. Elaine smiled before doing just that. Looking down at the tattoos herself, Elizabeth smiled and blushed ever so slightly when she felt Elaine's hand running over the tattoo that was on her left inside forearm. Her fingers were so smooth and gentle against Elizabeth skin that she had to fight back a shiver, which caused her to tense up slightly without meaning to. Elaine didn't seem to notice this because she was busy studying the tattoo. In her own handwriting, a quote by Dr. Seuss was tattoo. "Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." The ink was black and the words quoted, followed by a little dash and the author's name. It was Elizabeth's first tattoo and it meant a lot to her because it was what her mom would constantly tell her about various things and she thought of the tattoo as a reminder of her mom. After a moment of running her fingers over that quote, Elaine's attention turned to the quote that was tattooed on Elizabeth's right forearm. Once again, at the feeling of Elaine's soft hands, Elizabeth fought back a shiver. This tattoo was also in her own handwriting with quotes around the words, though there was no dash followed by a name. "Love is like handing someone a gun, having them point it at your heart, and trusting them never to pull the trigger." In what was tattooed, a few words a little bolder then others because of their meaning. "They're beautiful. What made you get them?" Elaine asked while looking up at Elizabeth, her fingers still running over the tattoos one each of Elizabeth's arms. Elizabeth just chuckled slightly. "Actually, I believe it's my turn." Elizabeth said while smiling. Elaine nodded a little while smiling and soon they started asking questions back and forth, Elaine still rubbing the tattoos. After a while, Elizabeth had found out that Elaine was a laid back person outside of school that liked some or the same bands that she herself liked. Elaine also had a tattoo that she wouldn't tell Elizabeth where it was at because she wanted to keep the girl guessing. When they were getting ready to leave, having noticed that it was starting to get a little close to the time for them to head to the other cafe, Elaine had reached out and started playing with Elizabeth's keys that were on the table. Elizabeth smiled when she saw this and went to get them from Elaine only to have them pulled back. "If you can walk a straight line, I'll hand them over." Elaine said, causing Elizabeth to raise her eyebrows slightly. Had Elaine remember more then what Elizabeth had originally thought? "So you remember last night then?" Elizabeth asked as she stood up, smiling a little as she went along with what was said, walking a line before holding out a hand for the keys. Elaine tossed them into Elizabeth's hands while standing up, blushing ever so slightly. "Maybe I do, maybe I don't." Was all that Elaine said to answer the question. Elizabeth chuckled slightly and looked down at Elaine while playing with her lip ring slightly. The thought of Elaine remembering more than just the ride back to her house caused Elizabeth to blush due to the fact that Elaine had let her drunkenness influence what she tried to do once they were in the house. "Alright then, tell me what you may or may not remember." Elizabeth suggested while standing there, her hands in the pockets of her sweats as she played with her lip ring and waited. For a moment, Elizabeth swore that she saw Elaine look at her lips while biting her own but pushed it to the side as she watched Elaine take a few steps to stand beside her. Elaine stood on her tiptoes, asking Elizabeth to bend down slightly so that she could whisper in her ear. Once Elizabeth had done this, Elaine smirked slightly before whispering. "I remember enough to know you look damn cute when you blush."
