Sabrina's entire body trembled.
Across the room, bathed in the faint silver glow of the moon, stood the man from her dreams
The same silver eyes that had haunted every nightmare she'd ever survived.
The same face that had haunted her nights for an entire year.
Lucian Zephrithus
No...
No, no, no...
This isn't possible.
Her gaze darted around the room, desperately searching for something—anything.
Her fingers closed around the nearest object on her bedside table.
A thick hardcover book....
With a terrified scream, she hurled it at him.
Lucian didn't move.
The book stopped inches from his face as though it had struck an invisible wall.
He caught it effortlessly.
His silver eyes never left hers.
Then...
Dark flames erupted across the cover.
Within seconds, the book crumbled into black ash that slipped through his fingers.
Sabrina's heart stopped.
'This isn't a dream...
The devil is in my r-room!!
She scrambled off the bed, nearly tripping over her own feet before jumping out of the window like a suicidal.
She didn't dare look back.
She landed on the floor with a hard thud and sprinted into the deserted street barefoot.
Cold air slapped against her face.
The digital clock outside a nearby convenience store flashed...
3:02 A.M.
She kept running.
'W-why me??!!
God why have you chose to punish me ??!!
what have I done to deserve this??!!'
Tears blurred her vision as panic drowned every rational thought.
Then...
Something caught her eye....she halted her steps
A man was slumped against a bus stop bench.
At first, she thought he was asleep.
Until she saw the creature crouching over him.
It was vaguely human...
Its limbs were impossibly long, its skin stretched tightly over protruding bones, and its mouth was latched onto the man's face.
A stream of smoky black mist flowed from the man's mouth into the creature's own.
The man's body visibly withered.
His skin paled.
His breathing weakened.
"What..."
Sabrina whispered....
Her voice was barely audible.
The creature stopped feeding.
Slowly...
Its head turned.
Milky white eyes met hers.
For one dreadful second...
Neither of them moved.
Then its lips split into a grotesque smile.
"That human..."
it rasped.
"...can see us."
More shadows emerged from the darkness.
Dozens.
They crawled down walls.
Dropped from rooftops.
Slithered out of narrow alleyways.
Every pair of monstrous eyes settled on Sabrina.
One of them laughed.
"Humans were never meant to witness our feeding."
Another sniffed the air.
"She smells..."
"...different."
A larger demon stepped forward.
Its voice was deep enough to vibrate through the street.
"Kill her."
Sabrina screamed.
She spun around and ran with all her strength
Footsteps echoed behind her followed by demonic sounds
A blur shot past her.
Before she could react—
A clawed hand wrapped around her throat.
Her back slammed violently against the wall of a narrow alley.
She clawed desperately at the creature's wrist.
It didn't budge.
The demon leaned closer.
Its hollow eyes glowed crimson and slowly its mouth opened
Then Sabrina felt it.
Something inside her...
Being ripped away.
An icy force poured from her mouth and eyes like invisible threads being pulled from the deepest part of her soul.
Her strength vanished.
Her hands fell limp.
Warm tears rolled down her cheeks.
'Is...
Is this how my life ends...?'
The demon grinned wider.
Suddenly—
A deafening crack split the air.
The creature was hurled away as though struck by a speeding train.
It smashed through a brick wall.
Before Sabrina could process what had happened...
A dark figure shot into the alley with the speed of a lightening bolt
Far too fast for any human.
One demon lunged.
Its head hit the ground before its body did.
Another screamed.
Black flames swallowed it whole.
A third tried to flee.
It never made it two steps.
Within moments...it's body disintegrated leaving nothing but dust behind
The alley that was once flooded with raging demons was now empty.
She struggled to lift her head but her body was too weak to move
Someone was walking toward her.
Slow and unhurried
'No!...pleased go away'
His polished black boots stopped beside her.
A gloved hand reached down towards her face
Her blurry vision slowly focused at the man infront of her
Black hair.....and silver eyes
The same impossibly beautiful face.
Lucian...
He... saved me...?
His unreadable gaze rested on her trembling form.
The reflection of herself in those ancient silver eyes was the last thing she saw before it all went dark
