CHAPTER FIVE

LUCIAN’s POV.
The moment I stepped into the shower, the thoughts of Dominick clouded my mind again. I chose not to come to work today because of him and all the crazy thoughts that were in my head because of him, even s*x with Derrick didn’t do justice to my thoughts. I somehow regretted getting intimate with Derrick because he has been calling since morning. I haven’t answered any of his calls and I am not planning on taking them either. It was a one time mistake, one that never should have happened in the first place.
The water kept pouring down my body but it didn’t ease the tension inside of me. The more it poured, the more my body tensed up. What the f*****g hell? Why am I reacting to him in such a way? He was just another human boy who..
I raked my fingers through my hair before turning off the shower. This was not helpful and I wasn’t going to keep deceiving myself. I just have to try because I have a lot of work today and I can’t mess around.
After I was done, I got dressed in a pair of jean shorts and a T-shirt before finally making my way out of the room again. I didn’t see him when I walked into the living room but I could hear some faint sounds from the kitchen so I made my way towards the kitchen and when I got to the door, I saw him. He had his back to me, fully concentrating on what he was doing while my eyes traveled over him.
“You wish he was yours yeah?” My wolf teased me and I found myself smiling despite the desire almost burning a hole through me.
“Yes” I heard him say, it seems like he is on a call, “I am at my boss’s house” he continued, “hmmm—he wanted to work from home today and he asked me to come along with him—what the heck? Why is she there?”
That last part piqued my interest. Who was he talking about? Did his ex-girlfriend come back? Something feral ignited inside of me as I waited for him to say something else.
“I am not going to see her or talk to her so tell her to leave, okay?
Just like that he turned and froze when he saw me by the door, he wasn’t expecting that. I didn’t pretend to move or hide. I just stood there and watched him.
“I will call you back, Clair”
Dominick went ahead to remove the earbud in his ear before he finally dragged his gaze back to me again.
“Sorry, I was—
“Your ex-girlfriend is back?” I asked, cutting off his earlier statement.
“She is my sister’s friend” Dominick said, “she came over to the house and was asking about me”
“Oh, I see” I shrugged, that feral feeling intensifying but I kept my cool. Not like he belonged to me, I didn’t have any right to act the way I was acting right now.
“If you want to go to her, you can” I said those words but my insides were burning with jealousy. He told me they were done and now she was back and asking for him?
“He doesn’t belong to you,” my wolf teased again.
“Shut the f**k up” I growled in my head before shutting him out. After I was done, I turned around and made my way back to the living room, Dominick followed.
“I came here to work” Dominick called behind me, “and I am going to do that sir, that’s what I am being paid to do”
I smirked hard before I turned around to meet his gaze, “I like that. Have your breakfast and we can get to work”
Without another word, I made my way to the couch again before throwing my laptop open. This was a work I could do on my own but I just wanted him near me, I wanted to keep looking at him and ask myself why the heck I was attracted to him in such a short time. It was bizarre to say the least. He sat opposite me, his plate on his thighs but his gaze remained on me. He was one of the very first who didn’t look like he was scared of me. He was just in awe of everything I have told him which I haven’t told anyone, not even my beta.
I scoffed before pulling my gaze to his face, Dominick didn’t look away and I loved that—I loved the fact that he was not trying to make me look like I said something wrong when I said I was into men.
“You seem interested,” I said out loud.
“No, I don’t—his voice trailed off as he dragged his face away from me, “I just—
“Eat your food, it will get cold”
I returned my attention to the laptop again, ignoring the heat in my body. Even my wolf wanted him so much, it was almost laughable.
He went ahead eating while I continued work even though half of the time, I was stealing glances at him and how insanely beautiful he looked. I couldn’t help but wonder how many looked at him and actually wanted him.
The doorbell rang, jolting me out of my thoughts. From where I was seated, I could see who was at the door. Why the heck was he here? I didn’t ask him to come today.
The doorbell came again and I pulled off the couch before walking towards the door, I threw it open and my beta’s face came into view. Sebastian has been my beta for a long time and I can say he has seen the best and worst side of me—mostly the worst.
“Good morning, alpha” he bowed lightly.
“Why have you come, Sebastian? I don’t remember asking you to come over”
“I had something to discuss with you and you were not answering your calls, Alpha”
“If it’s not important, we can talk later”
“It is, alpha”
I clenched my jaw slightly before stepping away from the door and he walked in. A slight frown formed on his face when he saw Dominick in the living room.
“I didn’t know you had a guest, alpha,” he said.
“That’s my new secretary. Now come with me”
I didn’t bother to wait for his response, I just turned and headed towards the library and he followed suit.
“This is the first time I am seeing someone in your house, Alpha,” Sebastian said as soon as we walked into the library.
“And I don’t think that’s any of your business, Sab. Why are you here? Spill and leave, you are encroaching into my space”
“Sorry, alpha”
“Good”
“We have bounty hunters” he announced, “we were able to track down a few of them but more are around. Two of our pack members were almost killed today but they were lucky. Tricia was on a stroll and was able to help them”
“Where are the hunters?”
“Locked away in the dungeon”
“Hmmm. I will come over to the pack house in the evening. Handle everything else until I come”
“Okay alpha”
“Hmmm. You may take your leave”
He stared at me for a while before nodding, he had something to say but I wasn’t ready to listen, not yet. I knew exactly what he wanted to say, he has been saying it for as long as he has been my beta.
“Alpha”
“Not now, Sebastian”
“Sure. I will take my leave now”
With another shallow bow, he disappeared out of the library while I followed suit.
Dominick was done eating and he was also making his way out of the kitchen. He halted when he saw me. Part of me wished he would ask who Sebastian was but he only offered me a tiny bow before walking to the couch again. I almost rolled my eyes to the back of my head. An alpha like me wanting a human, he should be f*****g grateful to me.
“What can I help you do, sir?” He inquired as soon as I sat down.
“Come here!” My voice was almost hoarse but I kept my cool. I wasn’t going to touch him without permission, that was a principle I lived by.
Dominick lowered himself beside me, his cologne filled my nose and my jaw tightened the more, I could almost taste him on my lips already. He clearly had no idea of what he was doing to me.
My wolf howled, claws scraping demanding I claim what wasn’t mine yet, my whole body heated up again. Why was I acting like I have been s*x starved in my previous life—what the actual f**k?
“Hmmm” I cleared my throat, “you will type out these names and you— his hand accidentally brushed mine and all my senses heightened, something I was avoiding like a plague.
“f**k it!” I snarled deep inside of me, my head whipped towards him, Dominic’s attention was fixated on the paper but I couldn’t help but notice how perfect his face looked. His lips, his eyes, his nose. I wanted a taste of him, a taste of what Dominick had to offer. Maybe after that, I would be able to tone down the obsession that was slowly creeping inside of me.
“Would you want to f**k me?” The question was out of my mouth before I could stop myself and Dominick’s eyes almost bulged out of their sockets.
“Sir..
“Call me Lucian” I corrected, “and is it a yes or a no!”
