NICK’S FIRST ORDER of operations was to bring Joey up to speed on what had transpired between him and Maggie. Joey was watching television half asleep on the couch in their large suite. Nick stopped at the mini bar and got himself a bottle of water and came to sit in an armchair beside the couch. The two of them watched the sports silently in the habit of long-time friends.
Nick finally spoke up, “I took your advice and found Maggie and spoke with her. She is the woman I married twenty years ago and I am still in love with her. We fell in love in Montana when we were stationed there and had made plans to stay together.
