Chapter 34 – Moonlight Rescue
(Elena’s POV)
The world came back to me in bits and pieces: first sound, then pain.
There was a low rumble that shook the ground. When I opened my eyes, all I could see was dust moving around in the air like ghosts. The walls of the tunnel were cracked and letting light in from above, and the ceiling was half-collapsed. My ears hurt and every breath hurt.
I tried to get up. My arm screamed in pain, and the mark on my wrist was still faintly glowing. Fallen stone pinned my body down, making it feel heavy. The smell of iron and dirt filled my lungs. Water dripped slowly and steadily from somewhere nearby, each drop sounding like time itself.
"Lucian..." The name barely came out of my mouth.
It was too much to bear when there was silence.
