The next morning came too quickly. I hadn't gotten any sleep. The mark still hurt a little under my skin, and seeing my reflection in the broken mirror made my heart race. I could feel that the fire had changed something inside me.
Lucian still hadn't come back from the northern wall. There was a lot of tension at the Citadel. Guards were whispering in corners, and patrols were doubling up at the gates. Rumors spread through the halls, saying that rogues were getting together again and that Selene herself had been seen beyond the edge of the forest.
But none of that scared me as much as what was going on inside me.
