FOR THE SECOND TIME in less than a week, Miki settled into her jump capsule seat. Maybe this attempt would work and they would actually go to Earth. She rolled her eyes. Grown-ups were so dumb. The fact they were in charge of everything was mind-blowing. She didn’t know how some of them made it to adulthood, let alone did things like build starships and travel through interstellar space.
Dad hadn’t told her half of what happened in the incident with Wilder, which had led to this third try of the jump drive, but she’d managed to piece the rest together by eavesdropping on gossip.
