Chapter Eight : "DIANA CHOSE A SIDE"

She slurped the noodles,deeply engrossed in her meal,she didn't take notice of Lucas staring straight at her. His glare said it all,he was curious of what she heard and what she was thinking,but she was as stubborn as a mule and wouldn't let her face betray what was going through her head.

He faked a cough and she looked up at him.

"You don't have to wait" She said, taking a glass of water.

"You look happy" He replied, looking at her.

"I always do" she replied, avoiding him as she continued eating, slurping loudly.

"Tell me, what happened at the cafe"

She stopped eating and looked up.

"I always had this thought that you were

close to Mikayla at the hospital,so you should probably ask her,what she was saying about Moldova,and Vanessa and being a model and Charlotte and alot of gibberish about a dead woman called Elida Choi"

"She told you about all these people?" Lucas tried to appear surprised,but it wasn't his fort.

"I don't want to involve myself with all these things,not until I get my senses back and know who to trust,for now let me live as I should" Diana said,her face looking serious,she glanced at the remaining noodles and pushed it aside,her hands folded as the plates were cleared.

"Lucas" A feminine voice called,the couple turned to the direction of the voice and saw a woman, wearing sunglasses,waving at them.

Lucas grinned,and Diana glanced at him then at the lady who had just approached their table. She watched Lucas stand up to embrace her.

"Kim, meet my fiancee, Diana"

"Hello,I am his ex girlfriend" Kim said, stretching out her hand to Diana and expecting her to ignore the handshake but Diana took it.

"Nice to meet you too" Diana said, standing up. "If you will excuse me"

Kim glared after her,and turning quickly to Lucas,she added.

"It,s a pity,she doesn't know what is going on around her" Lucas only looked.

Diana Chua was already causing disturbance in the family, Genesis noted that,as she told her father on the phone about it.

"Amore got into trouble with the traffic wardens and Eric had to get involved in her mess....,oh Papa,I am going crazy thinking about what Lucas is trying to do with that woman,she is really unsettling everyone" She said,pacing up and down her living room. She paused for his response,then continued.

"Talk to Ma,for me will you?,find out what she thinks about Lucas and Diana,I will watch for Ivan, Papa,you are the only one I can count on" She picked up a little artwork and placed it back, walking to a portrait of herself on the wall, she looked at it. "I am going to invite them over for dinner,what do you think....., hmmmm yes,I totally agree with you, Ivan is a nutcase but we needn't worry about him" She placed the phone after a hang up and stared at her portrait on the wall.

"Haven't you gone too far to fail?" She asked herself.

Everything wasn't what it seemed anymore and she was happy to flow with it. It was the company,it was like a curse,it attracts everyone to it, everyone has been possessed with greed,it was enticing,those numbers were going up,the money would last for eternity,it had never been for mother's love that made them act that way,it had always been for power,for control.

CHARLOTTE was built on the sweat and hardwork of the young Sarah Chua,and it never satisfied her that her children weren't interested in what she had established,she couldn't let it fall,so she had to bend them in the way that the only thing they would dream of is to be ambitious,to want it all. Since then,it had been them against each other,to fight for both her love and for power. At least her dream wouldn't just end with her,it would continue with them.

" Diana will attend" Lucas said on the phone, talking to his sister, Genesis. Diana,s facial expression showed how mad she was that he was deciding for her.

"What is that?" She asked,as he hung up.

"Genesis Chua invited you to dinner"

"I think I have a slight headache,I can't go"

"Are you trying to defy me,I have already told her,so you would go"

"Didn't you hear me,I am sick"

"I have heard enough of it,we will get you some drugs and you would be fine"

" I want to take some days off from everything and everyone"

"Why?,you are doing pretty well here"

"I don't belong here,I just feel it in my heart,I don't belong here"

"Then where do you belong?, you have lived here for five years, ofcourse you belong here"

"What are your plans of getting my life back,I may have lost my memories but I am not stupid,to see that I am just doing your bidding, while I still can't figure my way out and find out why I stopped modelling"

"In due time,you will get that life you have been craving for"

"Let's make a deal,that for each thing I do for you and your family,I get to have a favour that must be granted,deal?" She stretched out her hand to him,and he scoffed,trying to focus on the road. "Deal?" She pressed on.

"I said I will help you that's deal enough"

"You are in no position,Mr Chua to be the boss of me,neither do I,so we should be partners if you still want to keep me by your side and keep your family wrapped around your finger"

"Don't try to act smart with me, little girl"

"What!!!" She *******. "little... girl" she stuttered.

"You breath because of my money,you are still living in Singapore because I have the power and money to do so,you are alive because of me,so I will be calling the shots and yours is to obey,I will keep to our agreement because I am faithful to those who are faithful to me"

Diana glared at him unable to speak,it wasn't a wise move of her,s but she still had two cards to play with. She wished he would just die,but that wasn't the point, she still needed them to pay for what they did to her,all of the Chua Club.

Lucas came to a stop by a pharmacy and turned to her.

"You wouldn't need to see a doctor,will you?"

He asked calmly.

"Take me home" She replied sullenly, looking out of the window.

He turned on the ignition and started the car,turning briefly to her,he drove away.

When they got to the hotel, Diana didn't wait for him to open for her and he didn't even budge,she slammed the door shut and started back in,not turning back for once to look at Lucas. She worried that she wasn't acting the immature character well,she needed for Lucas to believe that she was the innocent little girl,and for the rest of the family to think she was a vicious unpredictable angel. But she worried if she was acting as planned,yes she had taken a side,infact she had taken a stand, a stand of neutrality,she needed to gain from both sides. Diana knew a part of her life,her life living in Moldova with her aunt was what she recovered first,maybe because it was a traumatic experience,and she sure remembered Vanessa Erhan.

Lucas avoided Diana for the rest of the day,he had Bryan take care of her needs and that only fuelled the anger inside of her,she felt like killing him. Bryan personally drove her to the estate and even volunteered to drive her around but she refused,stating that her business in this "Chua grounds" was to see Genesis Chua.

The housekeeper announced her arrival,and finally dismissed the other helps,she directed her to the living room where Genesis Chua was.

"Ma'am,the guest is here" She said,her head bowed. Genesis waved.

"let her in,she is my guest" She bellowed,then she turned to Diana from where she sat on the couch. Her eyes was black,it was as if she had been crying,her mouth was blazing red and she appeared drunk. "Leave us" She commanded.

"Was I invited to babysit a drunk?" Diana asked herself, snorting she walked to her.

"Eric is busy,sorry,he is too busy he can't make it to dinner" She sniffed,cleaning her mouth with the back of her hand. "Join me,for dinner"

"Not until you tell me why I was invited to watch you act like a fool"

"I won't shout at you for calling me a fool,I am a big one,a very big fool"

"Sure you are,and you are wasting my time"

"Tell me Diana,tell me what you and Lucas are playing at,what are you doing?"

"I know it is the alcohol talking,so shut up and come have dinner" Diana said,turning towards the dinning area.

"I,ll pay double" Genesis shouted.

"What?" Diana turned to her.

"I,ll pay double of whatever Lucas is paying,if you work with me,work with me to get everything you ever wanted"

"You are completely drunk,it is making you crazy"

"I am sane Diana,work with me,I can help you with what you,I have money"

"You don't have power,I can see that,I work with people who have the two"

"No one cares if I die,I am such an insignificant person" She sobbed. "Eric doesn't even care if I live or die,he only concerned about his job"

Diana crouched close to her, looking at the woman cry. She placed her hand on Genesis,s shoulders.

"You need to sleep,you are tired"

"You lived like an insignificant person too Diana" She sat up.
