Chapter Four

So that's how the story begins. Me protecting a human from a pack of wolves who I just so happen to know their leader. Now let's skip a few months ahead because I had to stay as a protector over Jack for 6 months....
***FASTFORWORD 5 MONTHS AHEAD OF FLASHBACK***
As I sit here and wait for Jack to be in danger once again, I notice I can't find any sign of Jack being in any danger for anytime in the near future. So I go down to him to see if he remembers me. When I appear to him he has no clue who I am so I make him forget this moment ever happened and leave.
I return home and am heading to my room in the palace when I see Iris, the leader of our order, standing at my door waiting with her arms crossed. I immediately think that I'm in trouble for checking to see if Jack knew me, so I walk up to her and open my mouth to apologise when she stops me by raising her finger.
"You're not in trouble Coralbug (that's the nickname she gave me at birth). You're reassigned to someone who may not look as if they need protection but right now they are in a lot of danger. And who knows you might even find your soulmate down there." Iris says with a wink.
"Wait so where am I going?" I ask excitedly.
She hands me a folder with the word 'Assignment' written on it in red letters, "Now read this, find out your assignment and pack some clothes and money. You're going to be needed down there for a while." Iris continues to smirk as if she knows something she's not telling me. I go to ask her what she knows that I don't but she runs off to Margries room with another folder before the words could even come out of my mouth.
So I do as she says and pack some money and clothes. I don't know how much money to bring so I grab about 3000 dollars and pack some clothes. I begin reading the file and freeze when I see whose name it is. Quinn.
I rush to find where Quinn is to make sure he's not in any danger before I get to him. Thank God he's not, he's at home in a meeting. So I head to him, getting pretty excited about it too. I appear in his room, put my stuff down and walk to his office. His hair is a bit longer than last I saw him, 'he needs it cut' I think to myself.
"What was that, little missy?" I heard a deep silky voice say coming from Quinn's office. I look in and see him staring at the door waiting for me to come in.
I look at him with a huge smile and say, "You need to cut your hair. It's too long, I don't like it."
Quinn gets up from his chair so fast and looks angry, I start to get frightened. He walks slowly towards me and I start to back away until I run my back into the wall. I look at the wall and back at Quinn, who is now in my face. A low growl escapes from his lips, and he then picks me up into his arms spinning me around.
"I've missed you so much. Of course you don't like it. I'll have it cut right away," he says into my hair as he smells it taking in all my scent.
Smiling and almost crying I kiss him saying, "I've missed you too."
"Where've you been? What are you doing here? When did you get here? How long can you stay? Have you been eating well? Sleeping well?" He starts to throw questions at me left and right.
"I've been making sure Jack didn't get into danger until today. Yes I've been eating alright, not much for food right now. I'm going to be here for a while from what I'm told. I just get here before coming down to your office. I'm here because Iris saw something in the near future of you being in danger and she's about us so she thought I'd be the best to protect you. And no I haven't been sleeping well since I left you a while ago." I say answering every question as quickly as I could before asking him, "How have you been doing, sleeping, eating?" I know that we've seen each other throughout the past 5 months but we've not seen each other in a month and I know I was miserable and I had a feeling he was too. And from his reaction I think I'm right.
"Yeah, I haven't eaten so much either. I haven't been sleeping, I can't sleep without you next to me. So I've been alright but miserable without you." Quinn says carrying me with him back to his desk and sits me on his lap.
I run my fingers through his hair and bring his face close to mine and kiss him deeply. I pull away to say, "I was miserable without you too."
