NEW FRIEND

Initial three days were so hectic that we didn't get the time to explore each other. As we were only seven, it was easy for us to get mixed easily but in all of them, one became my friend for life and that was '"BALI". he had exceptional behaviour. He was the son of a king. Yet wanted to become a sage. Kings had a lavish life. They never wanted to opt-out from this extravagant life. It must have been a tough decision for Bali, to take a completely different path. We used to have these classes in a similar manner.

I still remember the day when Bali and I came to know each other more precisely.

Emma- “I have read about Bali, somewhere in the mythology ”

Shukracharya- “yes, you will come to know about him completely now.”

We were on our way to attend classes for mantra acharya. As we all already knew that route and was It has been a while for us attending the classes, that’s why Nared stopped directing us the way. We used to go individually through the forest.

I was excited to learn something new from Mantra Acarya. As I reached the deep forest, I heard a loud cry. Initially, I thought it may be just a hallucination, but I again heard another yelp. I rushed towards the area from where the sound was coming. No one was there. I looked once again for a while and started moving back toward the main route.

“Hey, Shukra. HELP ME !!! ”

I suddenly heard a familiar sound but couldn't recall, whose sound was that. I again started searching for that person.

“Down !! here I am. ”

I immediately looked around and the sound was coming from inside of a well. Which was looking very old. Not in function and was covered with plants all over. As I went closer I saw BALI inside. He was a bit fatter than others. With black hairs, reaching up to his eyes, Fluffy cheeks and blue eyes.

Emma- “The Bali I read in the mythology was not like this.”

Shukracharya- "This was our childhood. we charged a lot after we grew up."

“How did you reach there?” I asked him out of curiosity and the echo of that well sent my words back to me.

“I was following a deer.” said Bali with a feeling of guilt in his eyes.

“Was this the right time to roam behind a deer?” I asked him, as we were already getting late for the classes.

“I know that and I am guilty of that but first take me out from here.” he almost requested me.

“Alright, let me find something to take you out.” I replied and started looking for some options to take him out.

The first thing that I saw was the root of a big tree which was long enough to take Bali out. I immediately took that root and gave one end to Bali.

Emma- “Roots are generally short. why didn't you tried stems of the tree?”

Shankaracharya- "That forest had peculiar trees with small stem and long roots which used to get separated from the tree after a while. "

 I was holding the other end. As soon as Bali started climbing the root. I was not able to keep hold of it and I left it. Bali again fell inside.

“Why are you punishing me?” Bali asked while rubbing his a*s. His eyes were closed as he was suffering from severe pain.

“I am so sorry. I don’t have enough power to lift you. your weight is twice of mine.`` I tried explaining my inability to take him out and at the same time started looking for some other options. I looked around and found another root of the same size. I decided to do it differently this time. I tied one end of the root to a tree and gave another end to Bali. he was happy with my new idea and again started to climb up. The moment he reached mid of well, the root broke and he again fell inside.

“Leave me here. I am gonna die in this well.” he was again badly hurt. I was not able to understand what was happening to us. The root seemed to be very hard but broke mid-way.

Abebe- “I don’t want to sound mean but I can imagine him falling again and again. It is hilarious”

Shukracharya- “yes, we also laughed later on this fact.”

I started searching for other options in the forest. It was hard to find the materials that can be used as a rope in this forest. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find anything else. I went back near well and said to Bali:

“I think we must ask Mantra Acharya for help. I will quickly go and inform him about you.”

Bali looked at me with disappointment and said: “I really think that I will die inside this well.”

“Keep yourself motivated Bali, our Acharyas will surely find a way out. don’t worry, you will be out within seconds.”

I started running towards the Manah Acharya’s hut. on the way my legs got stuck into a root and I fell. my head got hit by a rock. My head started bleeding badly. Everything started looking black. I started becoming unconscious and when consciousness came I saw a black figure floating in the air came near me. Touched my wounded area. Within seconds, the wound vanished. The Pain went away. Everything was still looking hazy. it started looking a bit clear in a few minutes. To my surprise, it was evening time. The time I remember when I fell was afternoon. Sun almost went down and it was about to become dark very soon. This was the time when I realised that Bali must be waiting for me. I immediately stood up and observed that the root by which I fell was shining like a diamond. It was not the case in the afternoon because it was looking like other ordinary roots at that time. I picked that up and ran towards Bali. When I reached near well, I looked down for him. He was sleeping peacefully inside well. I told him to wake up and hold this root. He immediately stood up by rubbing his eyes and started climbing the rope. I was about to stop him as I wanted to tie the other end with a tree but didn't stop him because I felt light while he was climbing through this root. I didn't even feel his weight. He came out very easily and hugged me and said: “thank you so much. I will never forget this thing.”

Emma- “Finally he came out.”

As he came out, rope started to shrink. It became almost as small as my palm and disappeared. We were amazed but at the same time very much scared as it was already dark here. We started running towards our base camp.

There was palpable tension in the base camp. Everyone seemed very worried about us. They were eagerly waiting for us standing outside the huts. The person in the front was Manah Acharya. We never saw him coming to base camp. He was looking very angry.

He looked into our eyes and asked us:

“Where were you?”

“We were in the forest Acharya.” Bali replied.

“What were you doing in the forest?”

“I fell into a well.” said Bali and started looking down.

“Why did you go near that well?” Acharya again asked in anger.

“He forgot the way, acharya” I replied.

Shukracharya- "I wanted to save Bali from more humiliation."

“Do you think you could fool me, Shukra?” he looked even angrier.

“No, Acharya. I was following a deer and fell into a well.” said Bali.

“Why are you asking us this all acharya. You already know everything. You must have read our mind till now.” I replied with a soft voice so that it doesn't seem disrespectful to him.

“Now, this is something that I wanted to hear. I know everything but you don’t.” replied acharya.

“What's the thing that we need to know?” I asked him out of curiosity.

Manah acharya looked into our eyes, started smiling and said :

“You don’t know the fact that it was all planned by Mantra Acharya to test your skills. Till now, only one person was able to complete this task and after years of wait, you are the second person who completed this task.

I am proud of you Shukra. You have used my right spells and saved your friend.

The deer was created by Mantra Acharya. It is so attractive that a normal person can not ignore it. Bali followed it and as per plan, he fell into the well. It was a tough test for you because the spell was such that the more you try to pull him out, the more his weight increases. Only roots were available in the forest and none of them could take out Bali. The only way to take him out was the use of concentration of mind and spell which was taught by Mantra Acharya. You did it perfectly. congratulations. ”

“But acharya…….” I wanted to tell him the truth but he stopped me and said:

“No ifs and buts. It’s almost dinner time. We will discuss and congratulate each other later. Everyone! Go for dinner now. ”

Everyone started moving towards the mess. we were still confused. Was Manah acharya telling a lie? Was he hiding something? Because he can read our minds.  can he read everything?
