IN THE MIDDLE OF MY second shift, pouring a top shelf shot of whiskey for a customer when I spot Serena entering the bar with a group of girls. At least, I think it’s her, but I’m half exhausted and everyone really looks the same. I’ve been so focused on getting the correct drinks out, remembering who has the black x’s on their hands so even if they wash them off, I’ll know.
