Chapter 7 By Her Side

1666 Words
After Rose entered the pantry where Catherine was bullying her with the others, everyone started to feel embarrassed and tense, but on the contrary, Catherine looked as if she was ready to fight. They were both looking at each other with fiery eyes, and Rose said, "Who gave you the right to talk about my personal life?" Catherine crossed her hand across her chest and snorted sarcastically, "Well, I still can't believe you have the boldness to continue acting; we all know what you're trying to do." Rose: "You're talking nonsense right now. Do you even have proof of what you're saying? Catherine laughed and said, "We've all seen you flirting with Matthew, and now, Joseph, don't play the innocent; aren't you ashamed?" Rose did not know what to say to her, and Catherine thought that she had won, so she said, "Don't you know what the Jones family will do to you if they find out? You will be fired. They do not hire people like you to use the office to hook up." Rose clenched her fist against me and said, "I thought we were friends. Why would you do that to me? What did I do to you?" "Oh, are you about to cry now" said Catherine, sarcastically. Rose interrupted her sharply, saying, "I didn't do anything, and you have no right." But before she could finish, Catherine said, "Listen, I don't make friends with bitches like you." then she pushed her hard, and Rose was about to fall, but instead of hitting the ground, she hit another hard thing, Joseph's body, who immediately surrounded her, while Catherine looked at her with eyes that radiated fire, but he kept his facial features to look calm. Joseph first looked at Rose, who was in his arms, then helped her to stand up straight, then got her behind his back, putting his hands in his trouser pockets, facing Catherine instead, then said, "So you're the one who's been spreading rumours." "I, Joseph, I," stuttered Catherine, who froze from her shock as soon as she saw Joseph. She didn't want him to see her in this scene at all. She originally spread the rumours because she was jealous of Rose. She wanted to get her out of her way, but winds do not blow as the vessels wish. Joseph didn't care about her at all, and his cold eyes swept several people in the room, looking serious. For the first time, Catherine feels afraid of Joseph. She did not even have the strength to say a single word in front of him, so he said, "You said that the Jones family does not like people who play with their work. Right, so what do you think they will do with you?" Catherine was about to collapse completely in front of him, but Joseph did not even look at her. Rather, he turned around and took Rose's hand and then left. He did not care about Catherine, who started crying as soon as they left, nor about the others who opened their mouths in amazement at this scene. Rose was walking with Joseph in complete silence. She did not even pull her hand from his as she had done before. Her irregular heartbeat and that feeling in the lower part of her stomach disturbed her thinking. She did not pay attention to what was around her except after Joseph stopped, then left her hand and looked at her as if he would say something, but he just walked away, leaving her with a pounding heart and confused thoughts. Joseph felt that his mind was mocking him, although his wolf sensed danger but did not try to control him, nor did he give him any thoughts to go and save her, it was him who did this of his own free will, but he still blamed the mate bond though, he still felt the presence of her body between His hands after that push that almost hurt her, and instead of blaming himself for getting close to her as usual, his mind took another track about how she was very weak and in need of protection and care, and his wolf did not try to mock him so as not to resist himself, but on the contrary, he began to broadcast thoughts Inside his mind that she might be vulnerable to harm at any time, Joseph did not take his eyes off her until the end of the day. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In the following days, those bad rumours about Rose disappeared, and her co-workers stopped bullying her. But things took another turn. The relationship between Rose and Joseph was very strange, as Rose found Joseph by her side every time she faced a problem, even if it was simple. They had not had a single conversation since the time he helped her when they were bullying her, and Rose did not find the opportunity to thank him, and she was embarrassed to go to his office especially, but he is nonetheless around her everywhere. Like that time, when the paper got stuck in the typewriter, out of nowhere, Joseph came out from behind her and started helping her and left without saying a word. And that other time, which was in the archive, she was pulling one of the files from the upper shelves, so another file slipped with it and almost hit her head, but also, from where she does not know, Joseph caught him before he fell on her. And in the morning, when she was carrying a heavy parcel box, she was heading towards the elevator to hand it over to the assistant of the CEO, and she almost fell with it. Joseph caught her before she fell and sent one of the workers to help her. All those moments always made Rose's heart skip a beat. He was like Prince Charming, here to help her and quickly disappearing. On the other hand, Joseph was worried about her more and more because his werewolf was right, that she really needed care, so it became as if she had a habit of helping her without even noticing that he was doing that. And Rose was hearing many people around her everywhere talking about her relationship with Joseph, so she often heard comments like "Oh my God, are they dating?" "He's definitely jealous over her; don't you see his looks at the men around her?" "Come on, she's the one hovering around him; haven't you heard what was said about her before?" And while the women were jealous of her, even the men started gossiping with them. But this time, Rose didn't feel like the rumours bothered her or wanted her to stop; she just had a strange feeling inside of her that made her enjoy it, so she just stayed quiet and didn't do anything, unlike someone else, who almost demolished the building above Rose's head while she saw her stealing from her the man she dreamed of. Joseph was sitting in his office; he must have come back from his lunch break to be surprised by Catherine entering his office with a cup of coffee in her hand. He looked at her and then at the coffee she had put on his desk and said, "It's not me you have to apologise to." She said, "I'm not here to apologise." He raised an eyebrow at her, and she said, "I mean, yeah, I have to apologise, but I'm here for something else." Without giving him any chance to ask, she asked directly, "Joseph, do you, do you like Rose?" As Catherine quickly asked, Joseph answered her just as quickly, "Why should I explain that to you?" "You shouldn't, but" He interrupted her, quickly saying, "You have work to go back to, you know." ………… Rose arrived at work as usual, but this time she did not find Joseph in his office, although he always came before her. The relationship between Rose and Joseph was fading little by little, as everyone was busy with work lately, and Rose and Joseph had not gathered together as much lately as it used to happen previously, only in some minor situations, in which Joseph was helping Rose as usual. But Rose noticed that there was something abnormal today, as many of her work colleagues were present earlier than usual, in addition to the gossip that spread around. And what assured her that there was something strange was that two members of the delivery company entered carrying a table that seemed expensive, and behind them was a third person carrying a chair that, by just looking, seemed to be very comfortable, but both of them were dominated by a female character, as the table and chair contained several inscriptions in pink. To Rose's astonishment, these people went to Joseph's office, set up the table and chair, and arranged the place. Rose tried to understand something from the gossip they were sharing, but she did not pick up any useful information. Her confusion did not last for long, as she and everyone with her in the place turned to the sound of the bang of the heels that filled the place. With an exquisite light-coloured blouse, a black A-line skirt, and a pair of black stiletto heels, a girl with a good face and an outstanding temperament walked towards everyone leisurely. A straight hair is as black as a waterfall, and the dark lipstick makes her look more delicate and elegant, but the sharp, upward-pointing phoenix eyes exude arrogance and nobility. Everyone was looking at her with great admiration, while the girl stood in the middle of the place as if she were the center of the universe, and then she said, "Let me introduce myself first. My name is Ada Wright. I hope we get along well together in the future."
