When All Else Fails

The twins stayed silent as they talked telepathically instead of in front of me. I wish they would just talk out loud so I know what to expect. Maybe they would take me back to their back before rejecting me. Or maybe they wouldn’t tell anyone there and they would just kill me in town and dump my body off somewhere. That would probably be the easiest way for them to be rid of a pathetic mate right?

“Can you just do it already?” I whimpered out. They both looked at me like I had grown two heads.

“Do what?” They said in almost unison.

“Reject me.” They quickly shot looks to each other clearly surprised by what I had said.

“No.” They stated at the same time. I let out some sniffles.

“Why? Clearly you don’t want me, neither did my other mates.” I tried wiping the tears from my face, but instead I just smeared them, making my entire face wet. “I’ll never be worthy of being someone’s mate. I’m just a weak Omega.” It was best that I go ahead and tell them now. Maybe they would spare me and make it quick.

“You’re not an Omega.” The twin on the right raised an eye brow confused by what I had said.

“Yes, I am.” I started sniffling harder.

“No, you’re not.” He said it like he knew for a fact that I wasn’t.

“You don’t know me, how do you even know what I am?”

“Because we can feel your power. But its different, its very unusual. Does your wolf think you’re an Omega?”

“I haven’t met my wolf yet. I just had my birthday.” It was like a lightbulb went off in their heads and they both started grinning from ear to ear.

“So you haven’t even met your wolf yet? Your mate was stupid to reject you. We all know you don’t come into your full power until you have your wolf. Even without your wolf we can sense you are powerful. You’re most definitely not an Omega. Call it one of our twin gifts. We can sense these kinda things.” He flashed me a toothy smile. Clearly he was confident in hisself and abilities.

“My name is Aiden and his name is Austin.” He playfully punched his brother in the arm as he said his name. “And we are the Newest Alpha’s of the Gemini Moon Pack.” He said with pride. The two boys got quiet again, using their link to talk.

My brain stopped working. I didn’t know what to say. Am I strong? Why would they toy with me like that? They seem to genuine though. Something deep in my soul told me to trust them though. That in itself made me go on high alert. Trusting myself hasn’t really been on my side recently. Maybe if they knew I already had two mates they would just go ahead and reject me and save me from having my hopes crushed again.

“I’ve been rejected twice.” Both their eyes went wide at once.

“Twice?” Aiden asked just to confirm.

“Yes, once to the Alpha and the Beta was my second chance mate.” I tried to stay calm since I was finally able to say a complete sentence without becoming a blubbering fool.

“Are you sure?” I nodded yet to him. “I’ve never heard of someone getting a third chance.” Neither had I. That’s why I was ready to spend my life alone. A third chance mate has never been heard of. A second chance mate was rare itself.

“You need to come back with us.” Austin said. They both looked very concerned all of a sudden.

“I can’t, I um. I have things I need to do.” I tried to think of a good excuse, or any excuse.

“Its not safe for you without us. Come back and we can consult our elders as to why this has happened.” There was none of the former joy in Austin’s voice.

“I can’t do this again.” I quietly said.

“We’re not rejecting you. You have been chosen for us now and we WILL NOT go against what the moon goddess wants for us. There are a lot of things we need to figure out and we can’t do it standing in this parking lot. Please come back with us and maybe we can get some answers as to what’s happening. I’m sure you’ve got questions you’d like answers to as well, and you’ve already been through so much that you deserve those answers.” Aiden gave me the biggest puppy dog eyes he could.

“Ok, but I need you to promise me that I can leave whenever I want and you won’t force me to stay. I want the freedom to leave.” I looked them both in the eyes for any sign of deception.

“We would never force you to do something you don’t want to do.” They both flashed me toothy smiles that seemed honest and genuine. “Follow us, we will lead you to the pack house.” They helped me over to the door of the Jeep. One holding each hand. Trying to get in a few last touches to feel the sparks before we are separated by vehicles.

As I slid into the seat and started the suv I started panicking because of how absurd all of this was. It was like my body decided to do its own thing and followed the boys to the pack house while I was deep in my own thought.
