Kat
The pain burns through my soul yet again. Making me want to die. Having to relive this pain again doesn’t make it any easier. I drop to the ground, grabbing my stomach. It feels like my insides are being turned into molten lava. This actually feels worse than the first time, except for this time its a show for everyone to see. I heard the cackle emanating from Alpha Shane as I also heard Lukes body thud on the ground.
“Luke!” I scream out through my sobs and the immense pain racking through my body. I try to see him, but my eyes are watering so bad I can’t see what happened. I hear a shuffle of someone coming towards me.
“I’m here Kat.” His voice lets me know that he’s crying. He grabs my hand, and I feel his other hand on my back. I started crying even harder. The kid almost died and he’s trying to comfort me.
“I want you gone now. Kat Peterson you are no longer welcome here at Hidden Moon.” Alpha Shane booms out, sounding normal, like none of this had happened. His wolf finally retreating and letting the human forth.
“Ye, yes Alpha. I wi, will be gone as soon as possible.” The pain was so unbearable I could barely talk.
“I said now, and i meant it.” I heard him start to walk away, and i tried to see through the tears. Cory was only a few feet away from. I struggled to crawl over to him.
I grabbed his hand, trying to comfort him. I had already done this once, I knew what to expect, he didn’t. He seemed to still when we touched. I just wanted him to know that he wasn’t alone. I want him to know that even though I don’t know him, but I now love him because of what he sacrificed for me.
“Th, thank you. Cor, Corey.” I squeezed his hand as hard as i could to make sure he heard me. “I will always love you for that.” It came out a whisper.
I crawled as close as i could get to him and tried to give him as much comfort as i could possibly give some one while their heart shatters into a million pieces. Lightly stroking his back with my hands and making as much skin on skin contact as possible. These are the last moments I’ll get to spend with him and I want to remember every detail I possibly can.
Cory
The pain was unlike any other and it felt like i was falling into a black hole. I could literally feel my heart breaking, my soul shattering, and leaving my body. In its place was just empty. The pain was unbearable, but not as much as that feeling of empty.
I could feel Kat’s hands on me. I knew she found me worthy of her love now. I just wish it didn’t have to happen like this. Part of me was at peace she was safe, the other part howling into the void she now left in my soul. My wolf constantly howling in loss of his mate. He knew why I did it, he just didn’t quit understand fully.
“I will always love you Kat.” It was the only coherent thing i could say at the moment.
“I know.” She was silently sobbing.
“We, we need to get you out of here, to somewhere safe.” I could only whisper, my vocal cords strained to even do that much.
“I’ll leave when you’re through the worst of it.” She sounded so caring.
“You need to get safe, if he comes back i can’t save you. I’m too weak right now.” The last thing wanted her to do was leave, but that was the only way to guarantee her safety.
“You can’t even get up, I can’t leave you.”
“No, you have to get away from here now, it can’t wait. Take my Jeep, my wallet is in the glovebox, use my debit card for whatever you need. I don’t remember how much cash is in there but take it all and get somewhere far from Alpha Shane. Please.” I grabbed Kat’s arm and squeezed making sure she heard what i was saying.
“That’s too much I can’t do that.” She started to pull away and I pulled her back in close to me. I hugged her with all the strength i had left.
“Please don’t fight me on the Kat, I need to know you are safe.” I took a deep breath of her wonderful scent and committed it to memory. I could feel her do the same.
“I’ll pay you back i promise.”
“I don’t need you to pay me back for anything. I just need you to stay alive. Now go.”
“I’ll never forget you.” She pulled away from me and the emptiness returned tenfold.
The pain at subsided enough that I could see again. She grabbed Luke’s hand and started walking towards the Jeep with him.
“The boy stays.” It was Alpha Tristan. “He is no kin of yours, he can’t leave with you.” Kat turned around, glaring at him.
“Well he‘s not safe here. You’d want him to stay just so your son can slaughter him after I’m gone?” Her voice was laced with anger.
“No harm will come to the boy. That is my word.” Kat rolled her eyes at him.
“You mean like no harm was supposed to come to me? Like this pack protected me? No one is safe here.” The elder let out a deep sigh.
“As long as I live no harm will come to the boy. I will see to this personally. My son will not harm him.”
She looked at Luke and he stepped away from her. I could see his mouth say the word “go” to her, then he started walking back over towards me. He said something else, but I couldn’t tell what it was.
