Gwen's POV
“Thank you Alpha Blake for even listening to me! Thanks! At a more strategic time, you can deal with them!” I said to him calmly. It was nice to have someone who would actually listen to you.
He turned to face me as he took a step closer which sent a shiver down my spine. I looked into his eyes and saw an intense and raw look. I recognize it to be lust or desire but there was something else to it that I couldn't place a finger at, something more controlled and restrained. I could see him fighting it so much but I don't know what it was.
“You should rest up, you need to be relaxed but be well assured that no form of harm is coming to you here. You are safe now,” He said instead with a hoarse voice as he led me back to the bed.
“Thank you so much, Alpha Blake!” I exclaimed as I felt a sense of gratitude then exhaustion washed over me.
He walked to the door but paused as he got there, and turned with a smile. “If you need anything, just anything even if it sounds ridiculous, call on me. Just call on me when you need someone, I will be around! Rest up now!” He uttered before walking out of the door, shutting the door behind him.
I was alone in the quiet room as I slowly let out a breath I didn't know I was holding, his presence called that! I was drained physically, emotionally, and psychologically due to the past events surrounding me. I allowed myself to sink into the soft bed as exhaustion slowly pulled me into a peaceful slumber.
Author's POV
At Stormfur pack, the news of Gwen's escape had spread like wildfire, also reaching the ears of the ruling house, Alpha Roland, Luna Maureen and Derek with Roland's understanding Beta.
Alpha Roland was quite a formidable figure with a commanding and severe presence. He blazed with anger as he growled at the guards who had been given the task of locking Gwen up in the dungeon. They had just informed him of the escape which didn't sit well with him, he couldn't believe such negligence from his guards!
“What do you mean by that? You let her escape? How was she able to outsmart you guys? You lot are just incompetent fools! You couldn't go after her and ensure she was captured? How did you become a royal guard?” He roared as his voice echoed across the hall, he was boiling with anger.
“Alpha Roland, we had a little breakdown and when she ran out of the van which was duly secured, we don't know how she unlocked the van except she prepared for it from the onset. We weren't fully prepared when she started running but we took action and started running after her. She looked weak and acted as one but her wolf was very strong and fast, we couldn't…” The leader of the team explained with an obvious fear as he trembled.
“Weak? Just shut that dirty mouth of yours! Haven't you not been told not to underestimate your enemy or captive?” He interrupted him with a disdainful voice.
“You all underestimate me to be weak and not calculative and she showed you otherwise. Now, she is free and out there, roaming about! Who knows what she might say about our pack or even do?” He continued with a spiteful look.
“Alpha Roland, she was faster than we could comprehend and she knew we wouldn't be able to follow her into Moonfang pack, that was why she decided to cross into their territory!” The guard continued to defend himself and his team.
“Just shut it! I don't want to hear any of your excuses again!” Alpha Roland yelled at him before looking around.
“Guards!” He called at the top of his voice as a group of five hefty men ran into the hall and bowed before him.
“Take these rats away from my presence and throw them into the dungeon, they will serve Gwen's punishment!” He ordered as he dismissed them with a wave.
“Alpha! Alpha Roland, please don't do this to use, don't Alpha Roland!” They all pleaded continually as they were surrounded and roughly pulled together.
“If you love yourself and your family, don't do the job given to us well and let them escape, you won't be warned,” he threatened the new guards as they dragged the first set of guards out of the hall.
“We need to search for her before she does anything stupid,” Luna Maureen chimed in as she looked at her husband's face keenly, he was in deep thought about what was going on.
“Yes, we do! Omega!” He answered with a nod of the door. He gestured for the omega to walk towards him then instructed her to get a guard for him.
“Get me the nearest guard around this hall!” He instructed as the omega ran to deliver the message.
“I need you to search for Gwen and bring her back to this pack! She was in the pack…!” He instructed the guards who were beside him.
“Alpha, why don't I suggest we remain calm for the meantime, we won't want to give Moonfang a reason to start up something horrible with us over a useless omega! If indeed she crossed Moonfang like the guards implied she most likely would have been killed for trespassing as everyone knows that! I just feel sending our present soldiers after her is unnecessary and not needed,” Alpha Roland's beta chimed in with a calm and steady voice.
Alpha Roland thought about this for a while as he came to the conclusion that his beta could be right.
“There is a point in what you have just said! I trust the Alpha of Moonfang won't waste time to spare anyone from Stormfur!” He affirmed.
“Send out the patrol and see if Gwen is outside of the Moonfang pack and wandering other packs so she can be captured back home at the dungeon!” He barked an order.
