Chapter 41

NIMIA

Came morning, his strong hands were no longer hugging me close and his presence no longer lingering around, he was gone, and the feeling I so hate, found its way to my heart tugging me, he couldn't even wait till I arise to disregard me. I stared at my reflection in his wooden mirror, my eyes had turned blue, this time I didn't panic rather my thought have been occupied with another thing, slowly I put on my dress and found my way to the living room, and there he was in an embrace with another, CARA. She had tears in her eyes as they both stood in an embrace, they weren't the only ones in the living room.

"Milady" came the low voice of Star, making everybody turn in my direction including Haldir, slowly I felt rage burning in within me, it was raising to the surface while I held myself back from unleashing it, I could feel the surge of energy, it wasn't just anger, I might let go and cause havoc, my eyes immediately went to the door and I took fast steps heading out immediately leaving everybody behind, I need to breathe in fresh air.

"Nimai" he called after me, he must have followed me immediately

"what" I turned around in anger

"let me explain" he begin and I held my tongue from saying what I want.

"the elders have decided to make me his mistress, you can continue being his wife" I heard Cara say making me fall speechless

"you didn't tell your wife about it?" she asked looking at Haldir

"CARA!" he shouted her name "leave us this instant" he warned after smiling she left

"I wanted to let you know..." he began but I cut him shut

"you wanted to let me know what? You left for three days without explanation and came back still no explanation and I just I just laid..." it was hard to say as I felt hot tears running down my cheeks, I wanted to believe his words while we made love, that's really delusional of me, he called me love and said I was pretty all of a sudden I believe am special

"Nimai, listen to me"

"I don't want to hear it, yesterday was nothing, we just satisfied our carnal desires, and about the marriage or me being your woman, I no longer want to be part of that font, I quit"

"what is wrong with you!" he screamed at me " why are you acting like this? Won't you allow me to talk?" he asked placing his hand on my shoulders

"I do not care Haldir, I don't want my emotions toyed with again, I am going to tell everybody that we are not married," I said, he tried approaching me with a panic expression but I shoved him away, and just like that I struck him with my lightening pushing him further away as he winced in pain, it wasn't intentional but my anger refused me to rush to him rather stood panicking till I felt a sharp pain in my stomach causing me to fall to the ground as I held my mouth suppressing the scream at the tip of my lips, our eyes met and he rushed over to me holding me in his arm "Are you alright?" he asked me, slowly I detached myself from him and walked away.

HALDIR

Seeing Nimai like this wasn't a good feeling, I had allowed myself to be consumed by lust, my sense clouded with desire, and we mated, I found myself suddenly saying things I have no idea I could say, not only have I been seduced I have also been bewitched, I dare not speak of love but I want her by my side, I had decided to marry her truly, we can both benefit from each other and as well tolerant each other, it will only get better from now on, I had thought till suddenly CARA arrived uninvited as usual, yes the elders proposed her being my mistress but I had refused, I need no other woman, I do not fancy Cara not even as a friend, shoving her down my throat won't change anything, but until I can be able to solve the case of the new enemy clan that have settled or perhaps formed in the mountains I can't do anything about CARA, the sudden death of humans in Alfredo is alarming, hence the reason for my urgent trip to find out by myself, all these while Zephyr has involved himself in the investigation which altered his persona because of the numerous kills he had performed, somebody is turning humans and fairy into Vampires and controlling them into causing a havoc in the kingdom resulting to the death of livestock and humans alike, all this a threat to my administration, but one thing is clear, it served as an eye opener as how power hungry people can get, and how I should take my position seriously and stop relenting.

The marriage conversation and CARA's refusal to end the engagement are all a distraction to the mess they are accumulating for me, soon citizens will start leaving in fear, and complaints of my negligent will pile up resulting to the dismissal from my position, all of a sudden this position seems interesting, either Cara has gone dump over the years or she is somewhat involved because non of these men her family included cares about my marriage nor her marriage, in fact, it's never required that a ruler be married but they are encouraging her knacks knowing I will keep refusing and she will keep on causing drama bringing us back and front from the elder's desk while the real agenda is ongoing, pretty smart...

"Milady your eyes" Star pointed out as Nimai approached the dining

"yes I know" Nimai's voice low as she noticed Cara approaching

"how about we exchange pleasantries since we are going to become co-wives," CARA said with a smile as Nimai chuckled

"No thanks, no need" Nimai replied as she moved ahead but was stopped by CARA's aid, "What now" Nimai signed rolling her eyes as STAR immediately pushed her away from Nimai

"Know your place Savana!" Star warned glaring with anger evident in her tone

"oh come on ladies do not fight, you should get along because you will be seeing more of each other from now on," Cara said glaring at Nimai while Nimai forced a smile on her face

"it seems to me your aid has no character or is she just following orders?" Nimai asked

"And what is that supposed to mean?" CARA almost lost her cool

"Am saying since you shamelessly found your way here, you shouldn't forget how to act after all I am the lady of the house" Nimai said with venom laced in her tone, not biting a single eyelid she spoke her mind

"you must be mistaken Nimai, I am not someone you can speak to like that"

"so I thought too until you pulled this behavior now, shoving yourself down the throat of a man who has mentioned not being interested several times, I have lost every single respect I thought I had for you"

"I do not need your respect, and if I were you, I will really watch my tongue for you might not know who or what will bite you" CARA warned her voice dangerously low

You really ain't as I thought you were"Nimai said and erupted into laughter "Seriously do I look like I am afraid of you and your threat, you should be scared of me CARA cause while you are okay with sharing, I on the other hand loathes sharing, I am a very needy woman and can't handle distraction, so if you know what's good for you stay clear from me while you are here cause I know it won't last long"

While Nimai’s words did affect CARA making her hard glare waver, her eyes suddenly caught the mark on Nimai’s neck, she needed no seer to tell her what that Mark signifies, before she could recover from that Nimai already left with her aid trailing behind.

"Savanna, you saw that right?" Cara said to her maid

"It wasn't there before,"

"yes, her eyes were definitely brown the last time," Savanna said nodding her head causing Cara to spine around

"Wait what? Her eyes were blue just right now" Cara asked, they both noticed different things.

"I will crush you to a tiny piece and not even Haldir can save you," Cara said calmly with a smile...

"I knew you will handle her properly, Savanna must have lost her mind to block you," Star said fuming in anger as Nimai remained quiet till Thanatos arrived in front of them, suddenly the tension between Star and him grew different, as Star struggled to not look him in the face, Nimai stood looking at them as she figured something must have happened between them, her present mood prevented her from expressing the genuine happiness in her for them.

"Master has sent for you" Thanatos finally announced, Nimai wanted to retort and say no

"Lead the way" she announced with a firm voice

"You know he firmly disagreed with CARA being a mistress but they purposely went ahead and send her here right?" Thanatos said as both of them walked

"He doesn't want her here too but for a very good reason he has to allow her to stay but am sure master will send her out he always has a plan," Thanatos said making Nimai stop in her tracks and stare at him

"What difference does that make to me, it's his problem, not mine"

"Both of us know that you are clearly affected, in fact, everybody could read the emotions on your face immediately after you saw both of them hugging," Thanatos said leaving Nimai fighting for words.

"I thought you hate me and can't stand me, or suddenly you find my position pitiful and you don't dread the sight of me anymore," Nimai asked folding her hands in front of indifferent Thanatos.

"I did in fact hate you but at the same time hate CARA more and my opinion about you doesn't matter anyway because master doesn't listen as long as it's about you"
