She stood by the garden, her head held up high, her shoulders tensed, and her eyes fixed on the sky, the beautiful moonlight radiating her skin, her long silky black hair flowing freely behind her in rhythm with the night breeze, she would easily be passed as a queen in her beautiful white robe.
"Milady" Star called out softly, hoping she answers this time, Nimai took a quick glimpse at her and averted her gaze back to the sky
"Dinner is going cold, you have to eat something," Star said, it wasn't the first time she had said that, Nimai barely said any word, Star just can't place her mind over what the problem could be, every time she thinks their relationship is getting better it immediately goes sour leaving her hopeless and restless.
"Go in I will join you later, this time I mean it," Nimai said with a forced smile, her mind was playing tricks with her, a lot of things are bothering her, the people she left behind at ARVERNINE, the revelation of her origin, what was the prophecy about and again the constant thought of the devil, it troubles her more that she can't stop thinking about him more than any other thing, her thoughts of him are going in the direction she never imagined before.
"Nimai" his voice called out to her, Nimai chuckled at herself "Now am hearing things, his voice too?" she blurted out deeming herself a fool, unknown to her he has been watching her from a distance.
He just finally wanted to confirm if he can get into her head, he spoke to her through his mind, and surprisingly it worked.
"So you can actually hear me," his voice said to her again, Nimai slowly turned around trying to know if he was around and if she wasn't just hearing things.
"You can't see me there, search for an Oak tree"
This time his voice was lazy almost like he was relaxing in bed while talking, his voice was sending sensations and chills down her spine, but she remained calm and calculating, her eyes scrutinizing every inch of the garden looking for the Oak tree, her eyes finally landed at the tree located very far from where she was, his silver hair gave him off, as his other body blended in with the tree.
"Now come to me" his voice came, it was soothing, like a charm laced with seductive and attraction, she didn't resist his calling, not only she but the flowers obeyed his voice, as they parted the way for her leading to where he stood her subconscious tried warning her but she shut them down as she took the first step leading to him, like a person under a powerful spell her eyes didn't leave his body as she approached.
"Do not look at me like that, I might lose my mind" he let out looking at her before he realized what he said it was too late, she wasn't in trance anymore, she heard and processed his words, he was never one to misspoke, every words and syllabus leaving his tongue had a reason it left, but he just spoke out of character, his tongue has gone tied too, everything with Nimai felt like there was a heavy consequence, getting into her head was a bad idea, he tired leaving her head but was stuck, she wasn't saying anything, her eyes were speaking to him, Nimai has always been the calm one but her eyes always betray her, she seemed confused, as if battling with herself, Haldir began to get confused what seems to be the problem.
NIMAI.
At first, I thought I was possessed, or perhaps I wanted to believe that was the case, but it was somehow clear to me that my body is now in enmity with my subconsciousness, my body wanted to know him but my mind is going against it, whatever he did, that he spoke to me without actually opening his mouth did something to me, he was just talking to me, he spoke to every fiber of my being, my body was consumed by his voice, like a sweet venom, a poison, it traveled fast to every inch of my body, the idea of standing with the devil never felt so good, I have lost my words, the invincible walls I was building has crashed down befall me and the glimpse of memory of me lying on top of him earlier today flashed in front of me, without warning my cheeks flushed, I could see the slight confusion in his eyes, never knew his eyes were this beautiful, heavens save my body and new-found thoughts, never been so confused about my own self before, do I want him dead or do I want to feel how cold he is again?
"Nimai" he called again, this time his voice wasn't in my head but the effect was still the same time
"I want your eyes," I said without thinking while my eyes rested on his lips, thank goodness I said that and not something else,
"Oh, you do," he said, his expression funny, my remark was unexpected but why am I enjoying his expression way too much, should I say another unexpected something? I want to see more of him
"I fear the position you are standing in might be bad for you," he said then I realized I was leaning in a little too much, I slowly strengthened my back and put my almost smiling face back to poker face.
"I would want to invite you to dinner," he said, my ears tensed up, where I came from, a man inviting you to dinner meant he might want to see your people
"The dinner prepared for you is going cold and I do not entertain wasting in my home," he said slightly walking away from me, his words might be what I needed, like a bucket of cold water, it dawned on me and I have returned to my senses, his eyes have gone cold too, all this man ever does is give me mixed feelings. I couldn't hold in the heavy sign that escaped my lips, he suddenly stopped in his track and stretched out his hand
"What do you want?" I asked in frustration, what now? Is he acting nice again
"You are not following me Nimai," he said beckoning at me with his hands, I shamelessly followed without resisting, I could swear I saw a smile on his face but it was gone, watching his fair hair dancing as he walks was beautiful, my mind has suddenly forgotten all my worries and focus on this man. The next thing I knew I was eating, though I had no appetite, his whole attention was on the fish I was eating like it was alien like he never saw anything like it before
"Why not have a bite?" I said to him
"No, it will screw up my diet," he said with a straight face and I couldn't hold the laugh anymore.
"Diet? What sort of bloody diet is that?" I asked still amused, his face went sour before he slowly folded his arms then his gloomy face turned into a smile sending me into a state of panic, why was he smiling sweetly
"This is the first time you ever laughed with me," he said, well I wasn't in any position to be laughing especially not with him, his aura confuses me, and he began shifting the vegetables to my side, just like a mother would do when she was around.
"Why would you join me at the table if you won't eat," I asked him while stuffing my mouth, seems I have grown comfortable with people watching me eat.
"Just wanted to be sure you didn't waste the food I spent fortunes on," he said in a lazy tone, unlike earlier I hated the way he rolled his tongue
"Fortune indeed" I scuffed angerily stuffing the vegetables in my mouth, slowly I lifted my face to see him still looking at the fish
"Do you perhaps have a thing for that?" I asked wondering what his problem was with the fish.
"How can you eat something with so many tiny bones," he said with seriousness, this time I struggled to hold back the laugh, it wasn't really funny but what on earth is he talking about
"You haven't eaten fish before in your entire lifetime?" I asked
"Does it count if I say once?" he said as he threw garlic into his mouth and began to chew on it violently as if having a war with it,
"What was that about?" I asked him, and as expected he ignored me but I noticed he was beginning to struggle, his pale skin turning red and his face slightly turning into a frown, that garlic was definitely not for him, he slowly detached his folded hands and held onto the table fabric. He was doing a very good job keeping his face in control but I could see his vines popping, it was my turn to fold my hands and watch him, why would he do that to himself, take something bad for him to prove what?
"Do you care for a glass of water my lord?" I teased clearly on purpose
"No!" his voice was the loudest I have ever seen him go as he began to leave the table, I couldn't continue to mask my consciousness which was already beginning to tug, I might be everything but I am above heartlessness I guess.
"Are you okay?" I finally asked, letting go of the initial fun I planned to gain from his predicament, he seemed to be struggling to form his words, Eros clearly said garlic did nothing to them, only then did it hit me, was the devil perhaps allergic to it, my legs moved before me before I could get a hold of myself I was already by his side feeding him a glass of water, "Heavens!" I let out as I began to panic, he was going red, and he held me tight into an embrace breathing heavily against my skin till I felt him stop breathing like a corpse before his body slowly detached from mine, an awkward smile on his face.
"That messed up my diet, I need to feed," he said as his eyes laid on my neck
"What?" I began to walk away fearing for what he might turn into, his smile did not change as he finally took himself upstairs leaving me to wallow in my thoughts.
"Milady" Zephyr's voice jolted me back to reality.
