Birds were silent this morning. Aidan and the other were anxious and the air was tense. I didn't feel anything particular but for a reason I didn't know, my chest was heavy. Darn it, every nights I spent with him making me more bound to him. I shouldn't have permitted it and yet look at me. When I think of every intimacy we experienced my core is throbbing with excitement but I can resist. At least for now. And now I think much more important issues we have other than my horniness. As I wandered and looked around idly, I flinched when I heard a rumbling roar. "Enough!" Aidan barked loud and every werewolf here shut their mouths up, bared their necks open in submission before him for Aidan's mere presence was filling the air with dominance. "I've said what you all will do! Anyone who dares to be disobedient and act against my orders or my will, shall be punished severly by me." his voice was dangerously low. "But my king, the other packs mustering at our borders to attack us. We should respond." a man said to Aidan while his head bowed down to his feet, timidly. Aidan then, rolled his eyes and glared at him with an annoyed expression. "I am no king or an Alpha as you all claimed. I have protected this territory, yes, but I did that for myself. This is my fight, my war. I don't want any of you to meddle!" Aidan moved his face closer to bowing man "Did I make my self clear?" he asked in a low but crazy tone, widening his eyes. I knew that gesture of him very well. He was either concerned or pissed off by something severly. A beautiful, blonde girl name is Alva got closer to Aidan without any hesitation. Who the hell was she? I could swear that I saw her before but where? "Aidan, I can't let you risk your life. I will fight beside you even if you won't let me to do." she said and touched his shoulder slowly. Waiting for Aidan to shove her, what I saw made my heart sink. Aidan didn't respond to her negatively, he just sighed and looked at her silently. My chest started to burst in pain. "I won't let any of you to fight for me, even you Alva. This is my fight. And really? Risking my life?" he chuckled, "Do you really think of me that low?" he chuckled again and then c*cked his brow in arrogance. "You are all dismissed." Aidan gestured with his hand on air then turned to me and looked directly. "Come here." he called me over. I was still throwing daggers with my eyes to him but I walked towards them, slowly. "Alva, this is Muiri, my moon-given. All I want you to do is protecting her while I am away." he stroked my cheek. Seriously?! He was ordering his bimbo to babysit me! "I don't want anyone to babysit me." I retorted. After my little revolt, Alva looked at me puzzled and Aidan narrowed his eyes in a threat. I didn't staggered. "Alva, go." Aidan said sternly without breaking our eye contact. Alva simply nodded and left without saying anything further. On the other hand Aidan step closer to me then soften his glaring. "I won't be around for a few days. In the night of next full moon I will return and my dearest, that night we will start our mating process at last." he said and rested his forehead on my shoulder while holding my arms. In your dreams, you psycho. I will scaddle away once I have my chance. But I can't let him know, now. "Where are you going?" I asked him because I felt like I needed to know. He released my arms and stood straight. "I have a pest problem to solve. Nothing more." he shrugged lazily. "When will you go?" I asked. He tilted his head up to look down at me with a devilish grin on his face. "Don't worry my dearest, I'm not abondening you. It is not easy to get rid of me." he chuckled. Oh, you f*****g know what I want. But, damn, I need him for now. "Let's get inside. The air today is giving me headache as we stand outside."he continued exhaustedly.
Once we get inside, my body felt warm and my spirit inspired by the cracking sounds from the fireplace. We sat down together in living room. I saw the big bookcase standing at the corner of the wall, I've never found a chance to read or browse some books in it. Taking a random book, I sat down on the armchair beside Aidan. He rested his head on his hand, was listening the fire cracking, his eyes were closed. I even thought for a moment he has dozed off but he was awake. I understood for he grinned. "Last night was a beautiful one, wasn't it?" he was still grinning. I rolled my eyes then continued to read the book in my hand. I can't lie, in this situation peace is all I can feel now.
After eating something, alone, I went to sleep at my own room but Aidan was already waiting for me at aisle. "Are we really gonna have this same idiotic argument, again?" he said with a facepalm. "I just wanna sleep, okay? No intimacy, no drama. Just sleeping." I frowned, "Can you promise that?" I asked and still frowning. He chuckled and shook his head. "Whatever you say." he shrugged.
We walked together to the bedroom, I was very tired, don't know why. As I laid on the cold mattress, Aidan covered my body with the wool quilt, slowly. He gave me sweet pecks on my cheek, forehead and lips then laid down beside me, gawking at me with a smile. Smelling the familiar woodsy smell mixed with sweat, my eyes became heavy and after a few minutes I fell asleep, watching Aidan's beautiful smile. Damn, beautiful he is.
It was dawn time. I woke up by Aidan's sudden movement. He got out the bed in a flash and rushed to downstairs. I ran after him instinctively and once I opened the damn front door, all I could see was a bloodbath. Werewolves, both in human and in beast form were tearing each other mercilessly. "What the hell is going on!?" I shouted out like someone else. I wasn't sounded like myself. In a blink of an eye Aidan shifted into his beast and started to tearing, cutting, dicing, slicing the foe and he was as fast as thunder, fearsome, cruel. I halted where I stood. Petrified. Seeing him like this for the first time, it made my blood freeze. Blood dripping from both corner of his mouth and between his canines as torn and severed flesh stuck up on his deadly sharp claws. I was a fool, no, a daredevil to disobey him like that. In his beast form, blood scent in air is driving him into madded rage, I could see that, he ignored all the pain caused by other werewolves, moreover his strength looked like it's growing none-stop. After a while, enemy retreated or this was what we thought. While Aidan started to sniff the air anxiously, I felt a cold grip on my throat, then something or rather someone started to drag me into the woods. I couldn't even scream for help. That was suffocating. I couldn't breathe properly because of the tight grip around my neck. Then the person who dragged me, threw me to the ground, all I could see so many wolves around me. Terrified and petrified that I am. My hands and my knees peeled a bit for being thrown to the ground harshly and blood started to flow from little scratches. It was hurting but because of the fear I was feeling at that moment, I didn't care. Looking around terrified, one of them got closed to me with a sick grin on his face. "Being a moon-given to that stained blood is your curse. But don't worry, you pathetic being, we will lift your curse by ending your miserable life." he said and then laughed. "Balee, kill her. Rip her throat and make it bloody." he said to a she-wolf in wolf form as he pointed me. Snarling, the she-wolf started to walk towards me, her face was horrifying. Horrifying than Aidan's. I closed my eyes, waited for my death. I had so many dreams about my life, before I came here. Before Aidan, before all this. But now, sitting on the ground I am waiting for my end. It shouldn't be that bad for me anymore though. For I am just an abandonment, just a disppointment. Even my own parents has died in those beasts hands. So be it.
A tear dropped to the ground from my cheek. I released and relaxed my body and accepted my fate, closed my eyes. But then a rolling, rumbling, loud and a feral roar started to ring my ears. It was so loud, grusome and dreadful that other werewolves whined once they heard it. A shadow jumped over me in speed of wind. A huge beast, raven fured, snarling, stood before me, no, over me, caged me with its body. The werewolves flinched as they saw this beast, its face and claws drenched in blood and torned flesh pieces of its foes. I understood than, its breathing was just like Aidan's. Strong and vigorous. I've always thought that I saw Aidan's lycan form but I was wrong. Hell wrong. Now, right before my eyes something much more of a feral creature was standing. It was his beast in its full form. But his eyes... His eyes are the same yellowish orbs, glistering as he was looking at me. After convinced I was okay, Aidan stood up once more and roared ferociously at that pack of werewolves. Some of them fled as they saw him getting ready to fight and the others remained here, were teared apart in most brutal way before my eyes. He cracked their skulls with his big hands, gouged their eyes with his claws, torn them, divide them apart, severed their limbs with his strong jaw and canines. My eyes widened because of the scene before me. His every move was for killing, cruel, cold and merciless. They couldn't even lay a finger on him, it sure wasn't a fair versus. Aidan gripped the last werewolves by his throat but not for killing him. "Who sent you all here?!" he roared, his voice was so different. Very different. I was shocked that he could talk in his beast form. "Speak and I will make it quick for you." Aidan said to the werewolf then threw him to tree trunk. Whining, the werewolf stood up slowly while looking at Aidan carefully. His eyes and ears were down, he was trembling before Aidan. He shifted back to his human form and bowed before Aidan. "If you spare me, I will give you the names you want." the man said. Aidan was still in his lycanthrope form, taking heavy steps and his breath was rumbling in his chest. He hit the man with the back of his hand, made him almost fly to the north pole. "You have in no situation to bargain with me you tamed, puny weakling." Aidan said and griped the man's canines with his own hands then ripped them off from theirs gums. Blood poured out through corner of the man's mouth, but Aidan wasn't content with it so he started to punch his head with a great force, even meters away I could hear the werewolf's skull was cracking. I thought, Aidan would stop before killing that poor werewolf for he, no, we needed that his answer. "Aidan! Stop! Don't kill him!" I yelled but it was too late. Aidan crushed the mans skull like smashing a gourd with his palm. As I saw that disgusting, horrifiying scene, I threw up. None-stop untill I fainted.
Disgusting smell of burnt flesh and fur irritated my nose and I flinched as I became wide awake. My vision was blurred at first, I shook my head a bit and blinked my eyes. After that, I saw. Every house were burning and razed to the ground. So many lifeless bodies lied on the ground. It was like a battleground from medival times. While me waking up, I saw Aidan lying on the ground and my chest shrinked. I ran towards him in concern and after seeing him grinning crazily, my chest eased for I saw him well and alive. But something was seriously off. His eyes were wide open and the grin on his face was insane. "Those fuckers even manage to kill Hanna." he said and let out a loud dark chuckle, his orbs darkened as coal. I hesitated to touch him for he was beyond insane. But after a few seconds of gawking, I touched his face carefully. He flinched when felt my hand on his face and then he started to look at me blankly. "Aidan, we are the only ones who survived. We have to leave. I am sensing more are coming and you have no condition to fight against them. We are too exhausted and we have to protect your mate." Alva said. Aidan's grin grew more. "Take her and leave." Aidan chuckled then looked at me. "A mere pack of tamed ones possess no threat for me. But take Muiri and leave. You know where to go. I will find you once I finish." Aidan stood up and reached out his hand to touch my face. "You will be safe with Alva. I'm trusting her with my life. She will guard you, keep you safe." he said as he stroked my face. Dirt and dried blood was on his body. After giving me a mere peck on my lips he nodded to Alva. She nodded to Aidan too and touched his shoulder. "Don't you dare to die." she said to Aidan and he smiled then looked at me one more time. Alva and I started to run towards an old stall, after a few foot, I halted, clenched my fists and inhale deeply. "I will be waiting for you to return too!" I yelled as if my life was on the line, without turning my face to him and started to run again. Did I go insane? Why did I say that?
Alva picked the stall door's lock, we got inside and there was a ordinary minivan. We hoped on hastily and Alva started the engine. When we got out of the stall, I saw Aidan once more, he was in his lycan form and fighting with other werewolves again. Out of an instict, I put my hands against the car's window and looked at him with full of concern. "Don't worry. He will be fine. We just need to worry about ourselves." Alva reassured me.
I was on the road again and again with a complete stranger beside me. But this time was different, it wasn't the fear I felt, it was pure woe. My body was in this car but my soul was with him. With Aidan. I get used to his presence, I do not know when or how. I sighed deeply. "Where are we going now?" I asked to her. "To Québec. Once Aidan come, we will go to the States. I guess to Detroit." she replied. After a sigh she continued. "But first, we have to mask your scent and to do that we have to find a witch. A good and reliable one." she said exhaustedly. I thought a bit and something came up to my mind. "What about wolfsbane? My mom was using it on me sometimes, I didn't know why but now it all make sense." I looked at her in question and hope. She shook her head. "We can't do that. Werewolves can understand something is fishy. And for me, I think I have to give it a try." she shrugged. "What do you mean?" then my brain lighted up, "Are you a witch?" I asked in a pure curiosity. She smiled awkwardly. "A bad one. Yes. But from now on we can trust no one but each other because we are the only rouges remained." she said with a exhausted tone again. "Are you a hybrid?" I asked again. She shook her head once more. "No. I am just a witch. I am not a werewolf. Hanna was my great-grandmother. She always tried to teach me but I was and still is a sucker." she shrugged. Rogues. She was saying that we are the rogues but why? This was just too unfair. All Aidan has done was protecting the weak. I saw them, lived with them. They didn't kill or harm anyone. So why are they the one who called as the rogues? "Why are we the rogues? They attacked us." tears started to flow down to my cheeks "They even killed children." I sobbed. Alva's eyes got wet too, she was at the verge of crying but it was obvious that she was trying to act tough. "It doesn't matter anymore. Eyes on the prey not the horrizon." she said and clenched her grip around the wheel. "What is that even mean?" I was still crying. I can't help it I am a mush. "It is what Aidan taught me. Focus on your goal not time and places, it means." Alva said and sighed. I sighed to stop myself from crying but I couldn't. It was embarrassing to cry in front of someone you don't know. Alva seemed okay. She was friendly but still.
After almost a week, we reached Québec. Both Alva and I were exhausted because of this long trip but wind was at our backs for we arrived here safe and sound, without a ruckus. But still, Aidan didn't come yet. My mind, my emotions have been torned apart by two thoughts. Staying or leaving. If I stay untill Aidan comes, I would never have a change to butt out from him or all of this. If I leave, other werewolves could find me and finish me off for good this time. Three days later there will be a frickin full moon and even days before anticipation and anxiety are covering my whole presence. Alva and I checked in a hotel. I wondered where did she find the money for it but she told me that it was stored in the car's glove box and under the seats. So, they have expected an ambush like that before, I assume. But, was all that bloodshed was because of me? No, no. It can't be true. I could never forgive myself. While I was thinking the last events like that, Alva was busy with something else. We booked the same room so I could hear her as she talked on phone with someone. Actually, she wasn't talking discreetly. "We are at your hotel at Québec. Stuff happened, Hanna and everybody died. Aidan will be here soon after he take care of the rest at Aklavik." Alva was talking on phone and her voice while telling all these was as cold as ice. How can people manage to keep their cool before situations like that? I was almost freaking out, and am still felling woozy when I remembered those horrible scenes. "I don't think we will ever go back there, Sullivan. But once Aidan come here, you two can talk this for this is beyond me. I will simply follow my Sigma." Alva still was talking on phone. Sigma? I've heard that word before from poor Eli. She has died too and never got a chance to fight back for she wasn't able to shift into her wolf. I sighed once more and miles away from that snowy hell, Aidan has connections and that situation made me feel both secure and insecure. "His moon-given mate is here with me. We can't let something happen to her so I can't get out of this room before Aidan comes. So, GET YOUR ASS UP AND COME HERE!" Alva yelled then hung up the phone. I looked at her confused and a bit scared. She understood the awkwardness in the air and started to smile while scratching her head. I smiled at her awkwardly as well. Clearing my throat with a low cough, I turned to her. "Can I ask who was he?" I asked timidly. Alva sighed and put her palm against her forehead before speaking. "An i***t. But a reliable i***t. He works for Aidan." Alva said then yawned. What the hell? Does he really have his own men even in here? But how, for love of God?
And of course I couldn't hold my curiosity in place so I asked. "How is that person could be working for Aidan? Wasn't he always in Aklavik, in that little village?" confusement was dripping from my voice. Alva looked at me puzzled, folded her arms, frowned. "There are so many things that you don't know about him, obviously. I will tell you partly." she sighed deeply. "Before all of this, before he killed his uncle and uncle's mate that night, the queen and the king were so proud of him but they saw him not as a son to love and embrace but only as an achievement. Aidan has never felt his parent's love but he was always okay with that. All he wanted was becoming more and more powerful than any other lycan. Ambition darkened his eyes because he always saw himself as an achivement too. So, he actually wanted to be perfect for his parents. It is complicated and foolish for you maybe but for Aidan, it was the only thing for filling the gap inside him. But power, uncontrolled power has no mercy and is a twisted thing." Alva sighed once more, "Anyway, after exiled to Aklavik, he swore to taking his revenge. Once me, Hanna and Aidan arrived Aklavik, the rogues started to attack us. He killed so many and the hatred inside him... Well, anyway, it was far more brutal than what you saw back there. The day you were born..." I cutted her. "I know about it partly. But, why would they want me dead? And even so, why did they spare me?" I asked to Alva and my voice trembled, she understood that I was very fragile about this subject. "That part, I don't know. But my guess is, the answers we seek hiding in the Lykeion Palace at Athens, Greece." Alva said. I c*cked an eyebrow to her and try to comprehend the things she said to me about Aidan. I am not the brightest bulb in chandelier so I think it will take time.
"You said rogues attacked you in Aklavik, first you arrived. Weren't they your people?" I asked again and she giggled. "Well, how can I put this for you to understand? Hmm... Power, hierarchy, respect and status aren't something always blood given. Sometimes you have to earn these. That was what Aidan did. For earning these after being an exile, he had to prove himself, his power over them. Yes, they were rogues but after submitting to Aidan, they became a pack under him. But the thing is Aidan was never accepted them at first. All he wanted to do was vengeance." her eyes hooded and voice got low. "How did they become like this then?" I asked again. "There were always fights and wars between wolves. For territory, for power or for females. In Aklavik, they were far more than feral. Aidan liked that at first. But soon after your birth, he changed, suddenly. He left for claiming you but once he returned without you, he looked defeated. He consider it as a the price of his sins. He came back and other werewolves there started to avoid provoking him anymore. Because they had understood who he is at last. What he is. They had never seen and scent a lycan before. So, once they understood they all bowed to him. Argh! This is all complicated. Anyway let's eat something." she patted my shoulder and called the room service. As more I heard about him, more I became intrigued about him. And still, Alva avoided my real question. How could he manage to make connections from here? Who the hell is he, really?
After eating a delicious meal, I took a long shower. Wanting to get rid of all of that disgusting smell on me and the thoughts haunting me. Alva laid down on the bed and hummed some kind of a lullaby. She was crying silently. I went back to the bathroom onmy tip toes to leave her alone, let her to expel the poison inside her heart in peace.
