Did you experience being bullied by someone? Or did someone make you unhappy every day? This topic is about bullying. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school-aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time. Bullying attacks your mental, emotional, and physical health. You live your life with fear of someone.
Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors, attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group on purpose. The first type of bullying is verbal bullying. It is a type of bullying that involves saying or writing to someone to hurt their feelings or insult them, like teasing, name-calling, inappropriate s****l comments, taunting, or threatening to cause harm.
The second type of bullying is social bullying. Social bullying, sometimes referred to as relational bullying, involves hurting someone’s reputation or relationships. Social bullying includes intentionally leaving someone out, telling other children not to be friends with someone, spreading rumors about someone, and publicly humiliating someone.
The last is physical bullying. Physical bullying involves hurting a person’s body or possessions. Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, pinching, making mean or rude hand gestures, taking a break, or taking someone’s things.
Where and when does bullying happen? Bullying can occur during or after school hours. While most reported bullying happens in the school building, a significant percentage also happens in places like the playground or the bus. It can also happen while travelling to or from school, in the youth’s neighborhood, or on the Internet.
There are six causes of bullying. The first one is environmental factors. Physical violence in the media may contribute to bullying. Some children can watch a lot of violence in the media and not be affected, while others can display higher levels of aggression from watching materials deemed to be violent.
The second one is low self-esteem. Children who bully others have been reported as being low in empathy and therefore not being sensitive to the pain of others. This explains why some of the reasons they say they bully others are "The other child annoyed me." "To get even," "for fun," or "to show how tough I am."
The third cause is societal factors. A typical example is bullying based on s****l orientation. This has increased as the conversations surrounding LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) have increased in recent years. Regardless of s****l orientation, everyone has the right to go to school and live peacefully without fear of being taunted or, much worse, bullied. s****l orientation and gender identity are vital aspects of one’s self and should never lead to discrimination or abuse. Society has been slowly accepting the LGBT community with the aim of providing every individual equal rights as any other human being. No person has the right to condemn, discriminate against, or, much worse, harm another based on their s****l preferences.
Next are the peer groups. Peer pressure occurs when a young person is influenced or pressured by those around them into participating in risky behavior or acting in a way that they normally wouldn’t. The fifth is craving attention. In some cases, there are some who crave attention and the desire to be perceived as brave and confident. This can cause them to bully to get more attention.
The last cause of bullying is dysfunctional families. Children who are bullied are three times more likely to have family or parental problems. Children who experience issues at home, such as abuse and neglect or a divorce, can be more likely to bully others due to despair, anger, or jealousy. Being a harsh parent can also be a factor. This can be their way of expressing suppressed anger at home.
Kids who are bullied can experience negative physical, social, emotional, academic, and mental health issues. Kids who are bullied are more likely to experience
