Taking Things Slow

A/N Hi guys welcome back I will be introducing a new character Makenna Hanover  Daughter of the Delta and top warrior of the pack I just thought My book needed a bit of diversity. so here you go.

Neveah's POV

When I Woke Up I was surrounded by warmth and comfort and my mate's scent. I then realized that I was In a bedroom and not just any bedroom HIS bedroom. I sat up quickly and assessed the situation. He was not with me and the pillows beside me didn't look slept on. and the sheets on the other side were untouched as well.

 He must have slept in a different room as to not make me uncomfortable. I looked down and saw that I had been changed and was now wearing one of his shirts. It was too big on me as I didn't have a lot of fat or muscle on my bones. I knew it would take me awhile to trust people and I wasn't used to people being kind and taking care of me. I was at a loss for word when the luna was gentle and comforted me yesterday. 

I felt like I had to work extra hard to get out of bed. It was so soft that I didn't want to move. I had never been allowed to sleep on a nice bed. I had a lumpy mattress that had holes in it and sometimes the springs would poke out and hurt my back. But this mattress was soft and didn't hurt my back. 

I looked around my mate's room and admired the details. his room was painted grey his bedsheets and carpet matched the walls. " Wow, our mate must really like gray."  My wolf Nexus said as I admired his matching orange dresser and TV stand. the color really tied in with the gray. He had the TV mounted on the wall so it was easy to see. The TV stand had a bunch of gaming systems all lined up and a bunch of games on Orange metal shelves. His room was messy but organized. 

A knock at the door broke my attention and the person let themself in. She was a girl with brown skin and dark hair with highlights in it. she was wearing a white over the shoulder top with stripes on them. the sleeve went past her hand and she wore a pleated red skirt with a red white and black belt to match. she wore black tube sock-style boots with a stiletto heel.

"hey sexy long-time nose-." she said as she looked at the bad and noticed I was in the room.

"Who are you?" she asked in a disgusted tone.

"Neveah. Who are you?" I asked as I started shaking. God, I hated that even small interaction caused me to shake uncontrollably but I couldn't help it.

"I'm Julian's girlfriend who are you?" she asks and that's when the shaking stopped.

"I am his mate. Now I am gonna have to ask you to leave this room. Whoever your name is." I said with authority in my voice.

" It's Makenna and he never said anything about having a mate. Though thinking about it had has been gone for two months. With a pack member who tried to kill themselves after being rejected by their mate. OMG, your her aren't you? that makes total sense.." she said in a ramble. Julian had not said he had a girlfriend and for some reason, my heart broke.

"I will end it with him He should have been honest with me about meeting his mate. I believe in the mate bond and that mates shouldn't reject each other. you have nothing to worry about for me. it was nice meeting you Neveah." she said and she must have noticed me shaking because she gave me a hug and left the room. 

I thought she was going to fight me for my mate but I was wrong. I would forever keep this interaction to myself. I could tell that she didn't know that he had met his mate. But that also confirmed one thing for me and it was the fact that Julian hadn't told the pack that I was his mate. Meaning no one knew that he was the reason why I tried to kill myself.

I got out of bed and walked out of the room and the smell of bacon and eggs could be smelled from where I was. I followed the smell of the dining room and found Julian and his family sitting at the breakfast table. Julian instantly noticed my scent and looked at me and his eyes turned black. He got up and scooped me into his arms and brought me to the table and sat me on his lap.

"good morning beautiful how was your rest?" he asked in a voice that was oddly sexy.

" It was great until Makenna Walked in wanting s*x," I whispered for only his ears to hear. I felt him stiffen a bit but relaxed instantly.

"Sorry about that I should have broken up with her The moment I found you. I just never got to it as I was looking after you in the hospital. I am one hundred percent your baby." he said attempting to place a kiss on my neck. But I didn't allow that as I wasn't ready for that kind of attention.

Our moment was broken by the sound of someone clearing their throat, it was alpha, Callen. He gave me a smile but I instantly shrank back into Julian wishing I had more comfort. It was like I was trying to shield myself but to my luck, nothing worked. The alpha gave me a saddened look like a blush of embarrassment spread across my cheeks.

"Sorry alpha, Webster, I didn't mean to act like that," I said as I looked down avoiding eye contact. One thing I grew up knowing was that you never looked at any alpha in the eyes. It was a sign of disrespect and challenge. 

"Look at me Neveah." He said as I peeled my eyes from the floor.

"You can call me Callen We are family now and you don't need to address me with such formalities. In fact, I hope to be the father you never had. Feel free to come to me for advice or any problems you're having. I want to help you on your road to healing." he said and I felt a wave of relaxation rush over me.

It was one of the many powers of an alpha. They had the power to override orders given to you buy beta's and below who were considered the top ranks in the pack. Him giving me that blessing ensured this I would always have the freedom and it made me feel great. It was a gentle command given to me so help me feel at ease and it did. I was glad the alpha was on my side.

"I am glad you feel that way Neveah And I hope you can come to find us like family." He said and It made me wonder if I had said it out loud.

"you didn't you just don't have your walls up and that's okay. No one ever taught you how to keep your thoughts as your own. But with a little bit of training you will be able to do it." he said with promise in his voice. Was he going to train me?

The thought of training scared me a little as I was never allowed to do it. My parent didn't allow me to do anything physical the would build strength and I was hardly allowed to eat. My physical looks were proof of their mistreatment of me. I was never allowed on the training field and my birth giver made sure I never got to do PE in school. I now know why she did it and the truth brought a boiling feeling in my stomach. I didn't know what that feeling was in my stomach but It felt a little more than anger.

"I can't believe they didn't allow you to train. As alpha, I had made a rule that everyone needed to train. So not only did they abuse you be they went against my rules. How did I ever call those people my friends? I am mad for you as you shouldn't have lived that way power or not." He said and a new warm feeling erupted in my stomach.

Though I knew that with the mate bond That would be impossible to do. As only a mate can bring your walls around your heart down. I was scared of what that would bring to my life and I didn't feel ready to let him in yet. He had not earned the Right to my heart after he had rejected me. I still felt the pain of it in my weak heart and it still burned of a thousand forest fires on a dry day.

"Mate won't do that to us again. you need to learn to trust him and you need to learn not to be scared. We have a life of good the was denied of from use that we still need to experience. Don't let the past get you down my lovely human." My wolf spoke to me for the second time today.

"I know I am trying it just that every time I take three steps forward I take two steps back. You Know I get flashes of what they did to me and I shrink back into that scared little girl." I told my wolf as My attention was brought back into the room.

"Hey, are you still with us? Were you talking to your wolf?" Julian asked whispering in my ear.

"yeah she has been a little restless I think she wants out for a little bit. Would it be all right if we went for a run after breakfast?" I asked in a shy manner hoping I didn't overstep.

"Yes of course why not make it a family run I just have to ask the rest of the family. we usually let our wolves run at the same time so that way they can play together. My mom and dad don't usually participate though. But I'm sure my sibling will join." he said through the mind link as I began to feel the bong get stronger.

once we were done our conversation a bowl of yogurt was set in front of me. Julian picked up the spoon the was brought along with it it. he scooped a little bit of on to a spoon and hovered in front of my mouth. I opened my mouth and ate the yogurt as he scooped a little more onto the spoon.

I was surprised that he was showing this kind of surrender at the table as it was a very intimate act. It was the alphas way of respecting their luna and proving his loyalty to his mate. It was a show of love and admiration to the luna.  At this moment he was being vulnerable in front of his whole family and in front of me. That small act chipped at my walls a little bit and gave me a sense of hope. That I could be a normal she-wolf even after all I had been through.

Julian fed me eight more scoops of yogurt and then I felt full. I hadn't even eaten half of it and I felt like I would burst. Julian tried to get me to eat more but I was stuffed because I wasn't used to eating that much. It was a fight she wasn't gonna win. however, I knew that I would have to eat more if I wanted to get to a healthy weight. I just couldn't bring myself to eat more I was so full.

I was at a loss for words when Julian leads me outside to the back yard where his siblings were. The one that made me afraid the most was standing to the left of the Hayden. they began to strip out of their clothes to prepare for their shift. I turned my head in embarrassment as my cheeks felt hot. I was not comfortable stripping in front of people But the goddess forgives me for what I was about to do.
