Chapter 8: Convergence of Paths

541 Words
The buses carrying the Umnian youths rumbled through the Alaskan landscape, making their way to Fairbanks airport where a military plane awaited to transport them to Fort Drum. Meanwhile, on the other side of the continent, Lael Jones and the six masters arrived in New York City, greeted by the familiar face of Ciao Ye at JFK Airport. Immediately upon their arrival, Ciao Ye took charge and led them to the sacred Monastery of Light located on the outskirts of New York City. This monastery had been prepared seven thousand years ago in anticipation of the arrival of the great vanquisher of evil, the Shen of Light, along with the six grandmasters. Over the centuries, it had remained untouched, a tranquil haven for Taoist cultivation. The grandmasters, utilizing their profound cultivation and magical prowess, levitated above the monastery. With a synchronized effort, they created a spiritual barrier, rendering the Monastery invisible and impervious to both human eyes and spiritual forces. To any observer, it appeared as an ordinary building, concealing the extraordinary power within. This veil of secrecy was designed to grant Lael Jones the sanctity and solitude required for his Taoist training to reach its full potential and beyond. Ciao Ye marveled at the sight of Lael Jones. Even before witnessing Lael's abilities, he sensed the extraordinary energy that emanated from him. As a junior Daoist, Ciao Ye was attuned to these energies, a skill that allowed him to appreciate the greatness within Lael. However, Lael had learned to suppress his energy levels, a skill acquired from the three pure ones, ensuring that only those he chose could sense his true power. As the military plane carrying Ayana and the Umnian youths touched down in New York, Lael Jones, within the confines of the Monastery of Light, felt a mysterious connection tugging at his heart. The bond was palpable, but its nature eluded him. Since regaining consciousness, Lael had been consumed by curiosity about Ayana's well-being on Umn. Unbeknownst to him, the invasion of Umn and the presence of Ayana and her companions on Earth were unfolding simultaneously. With an ardent desire to understand the nature of this connection, Lael yearned to cultivate his energy into the Shen dimension. However, the impending battle against the dark prince restrained him. The need to confront this evil force superseded his personal concerns, and he committed to waiting until the battle had passed. As Ciao Ye introduced himself to Lael, the two Daoists exchanged a respectful bow. Ciao Ye felt a sense of awe in the presence of the legendary Shen of Light. "Welcome, Great Shen. The Monastery of Light is honored to have you within its sacred walls," he expressed with genuine reverence. Lael reciprocated the gesture, acknowledging the significance of the moment. "Thank you, Ciao Ye. Your dedication to preserving this sacred place has not gone unnoticed. Now, let us prepare for the impending battle against the forces of darkness." Ciao Ye nodded in agreement, recognizing the gravity of the situation. Together, they entered the Monastery of Light, where the grandmasters awaited the unfolding events that would shape the destiny of Earth and Umn. The convergence of paths had begun, weaving a tale of cosmic proportions that transcended time and space.
