The silence in the chamber pressed on everyone like a suffocating blanket. Everyone was eager to hear what Kael was going to say.

It doesn't make sense to them. It was either he was fooled by the king or he was trying to get out of the kingdom. They all whispered at the same time. Each giving his or her opinion to the person standing beside them.
King Almond raised his hand, silencing the room. His eyes studied Kael’s figure, lingering on the strange, glowing symbols etched into his skin. They were unlike anything he had ever seen before.
“You shouldn’t even be standing,” the king said, voice deep and commanding. “By all rights, that demon should have torn you apart.”
