LYRA'S POV
The door creaked open, and I cringed. I thought it was too loud in the night's silence. I opened it just enough for me to sneak out of the room.
I checked the corridor and confirmed that it was empty. There was a lone candle glowing in the hallway. Oddly, I had this feeling that it was left there for me. I shook it off.
Hopefully, there were no guards or even witches at the entrance. I suppose there was no need to put guards around since they had a cloak over the entire place. I scoffed.
My plan was to return to this place and burn it all to the ground. But first, I had to get out of this place successfully and find my way home to Alexis. I wanted to be far away from this place before morning. That was when they would discover that I was gone.
