The house was more of a manor, albeit a rundown mansion. It sure had its charm, even though it needed a considerable renovation. Sandy informed me that it would just be her and me living in this big house and that she liked her privacy, so she assigned me to the second floor, and Sandy would occupy the first floor. I had my pick of rooms. I chose the one with the best view of the forest. It was a familiar setting, and it made me feel closer to nature, so it was the best choice. Sandy had shown me to the shared kitchen, and she said I could help myself to food as part of the perks of working at the café. I offered to pay her rent or board, as they called it, but she declined. It seemed like she had a fixed mindset and was quite stubborn. Perhaps I could pay my way with housework. Goddess
