Looking at my phone in horror, I realized that the clock was ticking. I hadn't received the messages earlier as I was not in reception range. There was no wifi available in the middle of nowhere, that was until I arrived in town. My heart raced as I read the furious messages from Jake. Panic set in, realizing that my escape might not go unnoticed for long. I had no energy to keep moving tonight; I needed some rest. But I would set my alarm and leave early tomorrow without a doubt. I wondered if Jake would try to find me. Or would he stay put and just be angry at me from afar? At least he didn’t know I was pregnant; that would escalate the situation.
