Forced to Agree

1098 Words
After a tense conversation between Drake and Daisy's family, Drake and his two children finally left Daisy's residence. "I said what I had to say. Remember, tomorrow you have to work at Arson's company as the new assistant manager and make sure you're not late." That was all Drake said before inviting all his men to go home. After Drake and his men left, Daisy's house was silent. The three people who were still where they were sitting earlier seemed to be busy with their thoughts, but one thing for sure was that all three were busy thinking about Drake's offer just now. "You should have refused Mr. Drake's offer!" Daisy's mother suddenly broke the silence. Both Daisy and her father simultaneously looked at the middle-aged woman who seemed to be emotionally in place. "How could I refuse it? You even heard for yourself that Mr. Drake doesn't accept any refusals," Daisy's father retorted trying to defend himself. "It was because you rejected it hesitantly that if you had given another, more reasonable reason, then surely Mr. Drake would have reconsidered. Besides, why did Mr. Drake suddenly transfer you to his eldest son's company? Isn't there anyone else more suitable than you?" Mrs. Daisy was still faithfully scolding her husband for not trying to refuse Drake's offer, even though Mrs. Daisy knew that it would make Drake angry. However, she just didn't want her husband to be unable to work well in Arson's company and would only make Drake and Arson angry because her husband's performance was not up to expectations. "If you wanted me to reject it then, why did you just stay silent and not try to help me?" Daisy's father asked back, which made his wife silent. The man knew that dealing with Drake Adams was like risking his own life because he remembered how cruel the head of the Adams family was. But if he refused, then it was the same as allowing Drake to finish him off right then and there. He had no choice but to accept the dangerous, but quite tempting offer. "Father, Mother, calm down. Arguing like this won't change what's already happened," Daisy finally said. Daisy looked at her parents in turn, their faces full of emotion, confusion, and fear. They were dealing with Drake Adams! Daisy herself was also scared, but she tried to calm herself down so as not to worry her parents further. The offer made by Drake was quite tempting because Daisy's father, who was previously just an ordinary worker, was now suddenly appointed directly by Drake to become an assistant manager at the company owned by Arson, Drake's eldest son. By accepting the offer, it is possible that their previously mediocre life could change because Daisy believes that the salary of an assistant manager is greater than the salary of an ordinary employee. "I think Mr. Drake's offer is good for us too. Think about it, you'll be an assistant manager with a big salary and our lives will be secured," Daisy said, trying to tell her parents what she had in mind. "But what if your dad doesn't do his job properly and just makes Mr. Drake angry? We could get into trouble for that!" said Daisy's mother, who was still adamant about refusing the offer. She was afraid that something would happen to them just because of her husband's small mistake. "You shouldn't think that way. It's like you're praying that something bad will really happen to us," said Daisy's father, who didn't accept his wife's words. "Never mind, instead of arguing like this, you should prepare yourself for tomorrow because starting tomorrow you have to be at Mr. Arson's company as the new assistant manager," Daisy said calmly. Daisy's father took a resigned breath. He really couldn't do anything but live with what had happened. "You'd better do a good job and not do anything that will make them angry with you!" Daisy's mom said and walked away to her room, leaving Daisy and her dad still in their respective places. The woman was really upset with her eldest daughter because all of this was Daisy not listening to her words to stay away from Kylie Adams and now that everything had happened, what was she afraid of? In another place. Jeykey who was in his room seemed to be lying on his big bed while staring at the ceiling of his room which looked clean without any dust at all. He smiled when the image of Daisy's face suddenly flashed into his head. The young woman who was his sister's friend had caught his attention since the first time they met. Since that first meeting, the image of Daisy's face has always lingered in his head, making him smile unconsciously. Jeykey didn't know if he loved her, he just admired the woman who came from a simple family. Daisy has a unique personality that Jeykey thinks is different from other women, she looks beautiful with her simplicity, even she doesn't argue when people look down on her. Daisy is a beautiful and unique woman and if she could, Jeykey would like to chat with her again in the future. "Ehem!" The deafening sound at the end of the door made Jeykey, who was absorbed in her thoughts, startle and immediately turn her head towards the door. Jevin was standing there with a mocking face towards her. "What were you thinking about that made you smile so sweetly?" Jevin asked as he walked closer to Drake's fourth son. Jeykey changed his position to sitting and made room for Jevin to sit on the bed. "Are you imagining a woman?" asked Jevin again, still faithfully teasing Jeykey. "No!" said Jeykey quickly with a nervous face, making Jevin even more eager to tease Jeykey. "Really? But, why is your face flushed like that? Why do you look nervous too? Don't be shy, tell me who that woman is?" Kylie bombarded Jeykey with questions that made Jeykey feel like she was being interrogated by the man. "Stop it! Forget about that. Now tell me where have you been?" asked Jeykey trying to change the subject. Jevin, who was sitting next to Jeykey, lay down on the bed. "I just had a tiring trip," Kylie replied. "Huh? Where did you come from?" asked Jeykey who suddenly became a little curious. Jevin turned to Jeykey and gave the man an ignorant look. "Confidential," said Jevin then got up from the bed and immediately stepped out of Jeykey's room which made Jeykey feel annoyed in his place.
