"Dad, Mom. Do you know what? I'm so happy today," Daisy said in the middle of their dinner.
The three people at the table looked at the 18-year-old girl.
"What makes you happy, honey?" asked the middle-aged woman who was currently sitting directly opposite the man next to Daisy.
"Guess what. It's something I never imagined," Daisy says again.
The girl's face did look happy, making Daisy's parents curious.
A young man sitting next to Daisy also spoke up.
"Do you already have a boyfriend?" he asked for no other reason than that, for a girl entering adulthood if not about their boyfriend.
Daisy shook her head quickly, "Not that, but there's something else. All of you will also be surprised and not even expect it," Daisy replied quickly to the words of the brother who was 2 years below her.
A middle-aged man sitting opposite Daisy furrowed his brows. If it wasn't about a lover then what would make his eldest daughter so excited and cheerful?
"What is it that makes you so happy? May I know?" the middle-aged man asked.
Daisy nodded her head to her father.
"Did you know that Mr. Drake Adams' eldest daughter enrolled in our college today?" Daisy said with a big smile.
The three people there looked at each other. While most people would be scared and trembling when they heard the name of the country's most notorious mobster, their daughter looked thrilled. Didn't Daisy know about the Adams family that was so feared in most European countries? The question swirled in the couple's heads.
Seeing the tense faces of the three of them made Daisy look confused.
"Miss Kylie Adams do you mean?" asked the middle-aged woman who was none other than Daisy's mother.
"Yes," replied Daisy, who nodded again.
"Why are you so happy? Aren't you scared at all?" asked Daisy's father.
"I was scared at first, Dad, and you know it," Daisy replied, looking at the rest of her family. "He eradicated bullies and also our rector who cheated. He's really good. On her first day, before classes even started, she was able to figure out who the bad guys were on our campus." Daisy said again with a big smile, but she didn't say who the victims of bullying were on campus.
"Daisy, call Miss Kylie as Miss. Don't just refer to her as he, she! That's very disrespectful. What if Miss Kylie? and Mr. Drake heard it? That could be a problem for you and our family," said the middle-aged woman who sounded angry with her daughter because Daisy had called Kylie without using a polite nickname.
The middle-aged woman had no idea that her daughter was already friends with the eldest daughter of Drake Adams.
"But mom, Kylie herself asked me to call her that. She was so angry when I called her Miss Kylie, she even threatened to do something to our family if I didn't comply with her request," Daisy explained to the middle-aged woman who was still staring angrily at her.
Daisy didn't want to call Kylie that either because it sounded very disrespectful, especially if it reached the family members of the daughter of the owner of the college where they were studying. However, Kylie continued to force herself. Daisy had no choice but to comply.
The couple looked at each other again while furrowing their brows.
"What do you mean, why is Miss Kylie suddenly asking you like that? Did you make a mistake, offend her, or do something she didn't like?" the middle-aged woman asked again. She was really afraid of her eldest daughter getting involved in the Adams family's problems because it would not only Daisy herself, but them as well because the Adams family was famous for always eradicating people who had bullied her to the roots.
Daisy shook her head quickly while moving her hands together, "No, Mom. I didn't do anything to upset Kylie, in fact, she asked me to be friends with her. That's why Kylie doesn't want to be called Miss because we're already friends. Not only me, but Kylie also asked Chloe the same thing," Daisy explained.
"What?! You guys are friends? You're not wrong? You're friends with Miss Kylie Adams?" Daisy's brother chided.
"Yes. I found her to be very kind and friendly, unlike other rich or famous children who would be arrogant. Not only Kylie, but Mr. Jeykey is just as friendly. They're not what we imagined, they're friendly," Masih replied as he explained to the young man sitting next to him.
Daisy's mom and dad were shocked again. What parent wouldn't be worried and anxious when their daughter befriended a highly respected and influential person in their country? What Daisy's parents feared was that Daisy would make a mistake that would hurt Drake's daughter. They knew for sure that Drake Adams was a mafia leader who would not stay silent if he saw one of his children being hurt by others.
"Daisy listen to Mommy carefully. Please stay away from Miss Kylie and don't befriend her! Remember Daisy, the caste difference between you and Miss Kylie is vast. Don't ever dream of being friends with the Adams family! It's not that I don't agree, I've never forbidden you to choose your friends, but for Miss Kylie, this time I don't allow it. What if Mr. Drake finds out about this? Do you think Mr. Drake will just shut up and agree? No, Daisy. He will forbid his daughter to be friends with you, dear. We are just an ordinary family and don't deserve to be friends with a wealthy family like Mr. Drake's," Daisy's mother said, trying to give her eldest daughter some understanding so that Daisy would understand and not misunderstand her prohibition.
The middle-aged woman was really scared and didn't want to sacrifice her Eldest Daughter to become the next prey of Drake Adams.
"Your mother was right. Before Mr. Drake warns us, you'd better stay away first. There's no way they'll just agree to one of their family members befriending a commoner like us and what I'm more afraid of is that you'll be the target of Mr. Drake's wrath because Miss Kylie chose to befriend you," said the middle-aged man sitting in front of Daisy.
They didn't want to forbid their daughter from associating with anyone, but not the number one person in their country. Both couples were afraid that Drake wouldn't accept that, but Daisy's parents didn't know that Drake had never forbidden his son and daughter from hanging out with anyone, as long as that person was as sincere about approaching his four children as Carly and Valery were. Drake is not the type of person who will immediately harm others if it doesn't start first, that principle is often instilled by Drake to himself and also the four heirs of his wealth.
"But Mom, Dad. Kylie's not like that,"
Daisy tried to refute her parents' words.
"Honey, I'm begging you to obey this time. It's also for your safety and that of our family. Don't regret it later because it won't do any good!" said the middle-aged woman who reiterated and seemed not to accept any more arguments from her eldest daughter.
Daisy could no longer answer, the girl was just downcast because she had just made a new friend besides Chloe who wanted to be friends with her on campus and was now banned by her parents.
If only Daisy's parents knew how their daughter continued to be bullied and during college, there was never a single friend who wanted to be close to her at Viola's threat except, Chloe. Maybe now the couple would be very grateful to Kylie for being a second friend to their eldest daughter.
