CHAPTER FIVE; A CHANCED ENCOUTER

397 Words
As Alexa rushed down the hallway, she muttered to herself, "Oh my gosh, I'm running late!" She had an assignment to submit to her lecturer's office, but she couldn't recall which door it was. "Which door is it? s**t, I don't even know his name! I'm so doomed!" she exclaimed, staring at the rows of doors. In her haste, she didn't notice someone exiting one of the doors and bumped into their chest, dropping her books. "Oh s**t, what mess have I created now?" she mumbled, bending to pick up her belongings. As she looked up, she met a pair of piercing sapphire blue eyes staring intently at her, with concern etched on his forehead. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed, bending down to help her gather her scattered books. "I hope you're not in too much pain." Alex's mind went blank as she stared at those captivating eyes. The stranger snapped his fingers to bring her back to reality. "Are you okay?" he asked again, his voice laced with genuine concern. Alex gulped hard, her heart racing, and stammered, "Oh, yes... I'm totally fine." She couldn't believe how flustered she was. Never had she felt such an intense connection with a total stranger. As they stood up, Alex noticed how tall and broad-shouldered he was, with chiseled features and a strong jawline. She felt a flutter in her chest, and her face grew warm. "Thanks for helping me," she said, trying to sound calm, but her voice barely above a whisper. The stranger smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "No problem. I'm Max, by the way." Alex's heart skipped a beat as she took his outstretched hand. "I'm Alex, but my friends call me Alexa." Max's smile widened. "Nice to meet you, Alexa. What were you looking so lost for?" Alex's eyes widened as she remembered her assignment. "Oh no, my assignment! I'm so sorry, I gotta go." Max nodded understandingly. "No worries. But can I get your number for a meetup or something?" Alex hesitated for a moment before handing over her number. As they parted ways, Max called out, "Text you later, Angel!" Alex's heart skipped a beat. Did he just call her an Angel? She couldn't help but smile, feeling a spark of excitement. "Oh no, I think I'm in love," she thought to herself, before proceeding to find the lecturer's office.
