CHAPTER SEVEN; FEELING INSECURE

748 Words
The sun beat down on the college field as the first and second-year Nursing students gathered for their highly anticipated football match. Alex, a first-year student, cheered on her friends alongside Stacy, her best friend and teammate. As the game commenced, Stacy sprinted down the field, her ponytail bouncing with each step. In a sudden turn of events, she collided with an opponent, landing awkwardly on her ankle. The game paused momentarily as Stacy's teammates and opponents rushed to her side. Alex was among the first to reach her, concern etched on her face. "Stacy, are you okay?" she asked, helping her friend sit up. Stacy winced, clutching her ankle. "I think I twisted it. It hurts like crazy." The team's physiotherapist assessed the injury and advised Stacy to ice her ankle and get an X-ray to rule out any serious damage. Alex stayed by Stacy's side, helping her off the field and accompanying her to the college clinic. Max, who had been watching the game, joined them, offering words of encouragement. As the days went by, Max visited Stacy frequently, bringing her favorite snacks and checking on her progress. Alex noticed the attention, wondering if Max might be developing feelings for Stacy. Meanwhile, Alex found herself juggling her relationship with Max and her friendship with Stacy. She loved spending time with Max, but she didn't want to neglect her best friend. As the semester progressed, Alex, Max, and Stacy would often study together or grab meals on campus. One evening, as Alex and Stacy walked back to their dorm, Stacy turned to Alex and said, "Hey, I'm glad we're still hanging out despite your new relationship with Max." Alex smiled. "Of course, Stace! You're my ride-or-die. I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything." As they walked, Alex noticed how easily Max fit into their dynamic. She felt a pang of guilt, wondering if she was spending enough time with Stacy. Max's friends had been observing his interactions with Stacy and Alex. "Max, you're really into Stacy, aren't you?" one of them teased. Max's expression turned thoughtful. "I don't know. Maybe. She's definitely interesting." The next day, Max asked Stacy to grab coffee with him. Stacy agreed, and Alex felt a flutter in her chest, wondering if Max was developing feelings for Stacy. As the days went by, Max and Stacy would meet up for coffee or study sessions. Alex would occasionally join them, feeling like a third wheel. One evening, Stacy turned to Alex and said, "Max is really cool. I'm having a lot of fun with him." Alex smiled, but her mind was racing with questions. Alex decided to confide in Cynthia, a helpful upperclassman who had assisted her with assignments and projects. They had met on a sunny afternoon when Alex had forgotten her card to pay for lunch, and Cynthia had kindly helped her out. Alex made a mental note to meet with Cynthia and discuss her concerns about Max and Stacy. She sent Cynthia a text, and they agreed to meet at the campus café the following day. The next day, Alex sat down with Cynthia, pouring her heart out about her feelings. Cynthia listened attentively, offering words of wisdom and advice. "Just be true to yourself, Alex. If you value your friendship with Stacy, make sure you're not neglecting it. And if Max is developing feelings for Stacy, that's something they need to figure out together." Alex felt a weight lift off her shoulders, grateful for Cynthia's guidance. She realized that she needed to focus on her own relationships and not worry too much about Max and Stacy. As Alex walked back to her dorm, she felt a sense of clarity. She would prioritize her friendship with Stacy and nurture her relationship with Max, but on her own terms. Little did she know what the future had in store for her. she walked happily to her dorm and even got cakes for her dorm mate and Stacy. "knock knock who's there ..? it's me Alex, oh I'm coming said Stacy Hey there, come in how are you doing..? I'm fine.. how's your leg..? I can jump and walk now see Stacy then proceeded to walk and jump around for her friend and then they both bursted out laughing... I have got cakes for you!
