I didn't sleep that night.
The kiss kept replaying. The way Aiden looked at me in the car. "Don't read into it."
Liars.
The next morning, Vanessa showed up at the office.
Aiden's fiancée for 3 years. Perfect hair, perfect dress, perfect smile.
And a check in her hand.
"8 million dollars," she said, sliding it across my desk.
"Sign the divorce papers. Leave him. Leave the twins."
My hands shook. 8 million. That’s my mom’s surgery. That’s her life.
"And if I say no?" I whispered.
Vanessa smiled. Cold. "Then I’ll make sure you lose everything. The money. Him. The babies."
That night Aiden found me crying in the penthouse.
He didn’t ask. He just pulled me into his arms.
"I know about the check," he said quietly. "Take it if you want. I won't stop you."
I pulled back. Looked into his cold CEO eyes.
The same eyes that kissed me in front of the world.
"Do you want me to take it?"
A long pause.
"No," Aiden said. Voice rough. "I choose us."
