Chapter 34-03 It was still open and as I turned, I felt my heart sink; my bedroom suddenly felt like a cage. My father wasn't overly tall. He was around 5'11 with a receding hairline and watery eyes that often appeared to be bloodshot. He didn't look much different than he had the last time I had seen him. The same pitiful emotions that had swamped me last time we had faced each other came rushing back. I wanted to cry for Joel. I wanted to drop to the ground and cover my eyes and ears so I could pretend he wasn't there, but I didn't.
