CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
"It was quiet after you left," Adnan said.
"I can't tell you how glad I am to hear that," I said as we stood on my back porch. I decided I was never going to get used to this new block Adnan and his gang of jinn had put my house on. I missed my front view of Ant'ny's porch, my neighbor Granny, and damn near everything else about Cates Avenue. The empty lots behind the house put me on edge.
"Did you kill the spider demon?" Adnan asked. He was still in his black suit. I didn’t know how he kept that thing on all the time. I would’ve at least loosened the tie.
"Kill it?" Bo asked. "We burned that sucker up."
Adnan regarded the comment. "Hopefully, it won't come back."
Bo and I looked at each other.
"Just kidding," Adnan said.
We shared a laugh.
