Something tightened in my chest. "I did not run, besides there was no reason to stay." i retorted "You were gone before I woke up." "That was the agreement." I was choking back on the shame of having slept with him, but he wouldn’t stop putting it in my face "We did not have an agreement, Julie." he countered "No." My voice came out quieter than I intended and I could not get it back. "We did not. Which is exactly why I left." I walked toward the door. He stepped aside, not because I gave him any reason to but because he chose to, and I walked past him and I did not look at his face because I knew what looking at his face would cost me. I felt the heat of him as I passed. Just proximity. Just the warmth of a body I had spent five years instructing myself to forget. I was shaking
